    I get that with twitter, and texting folks are used to that 1 sentence hot take. They can be funny, and even sarcastic. But that has been going on for so long folks are used to it.

No--it was not clear that was the reason you were using italics--it did not seem an appropriate time to use sarcasm . My experience is that italics are hyperbolic more than sarcastic, but I have seen both--again, did not make sense. Since we are getting technical, I did not use son in a possessive form, so can you not be a son without my being your father?   (kidding).  If your point was to support Sig by exposing a sarcastic viewpoint through italics,, excuse me--that did not occur to me.
