my stomach is getting nauseated even stepping into this tired conversation again two years going, i should have just let you guys keep at it. Gman took control of the situation by rescinding the tag, Norman was in control by holding out trying to rip us off like he did the Skins. We had 15M tied up in him and couldnt do anything with it sitting there. Since Norman let it sit for a couple weeks, DG felt it was better to be proactive and take control of the situation. I get it, as fans, we love our players and will stick up for them no matter how ridiculous we sound doing it. Carry on. Anyone crazy enough to think losing Norman is the reason we dropped 9 games or even 5 or 6 or 3 is fugging nutz.

Your stomach should become nauseated from the dumb poo coming out of your brain.. Gman gave control to Norman and his agents as soon as he rescinded the offer.. He grab his ball and went home.. If Norman was still tagged he either play for us or not at all.. How does Norman come out good if he sits out a earning season at 27 years old??

Get a life bitches you are taking a difference in opinion between strangers to seriously.. And looking like total pussies while doing it.. I'm indifferent, cause I choose to be unbiased.

The cards Norman played, got him out of Carolina.

He got a contract that he never would have gotten from the Panthers. I'm not mad, that's the name of the game!!

I just laugh any time someone blames Gettleman for Norman shitting his bed here in Carolina.

Our Panthers weren't interested in a 1 year rental of Norman either. Which once again, I completely understand that. It was sign a long term deal with us, or be gone.  Norman made his choice.

Yeah, I'm sure ol' Dollar Signs Josh is gonna sign with Carolina for around $8M a year and do the organization a solid because of his big, generous heart.

(P.S. I never a single time held it against Norman that he went for the money.  Good for him.  Its a game that damages your body, many times severely, so get your $$$ while you can.  My only problem is the view of many that Josh is gonna willingly settle for NOT making as much as possible just because being a Carolina Panther is worth the sacrifice in your wallet.  Preposterous.)

The Panthers wanted to keep Norman but not over pay and and be forced to release him down the road anyway

Norman always feels like he has something to prove being a late round pick and over looked as one of the best corners. He wanted to stay with the Panthers but wanted a HUGE pay day maybe even be the highest paid CB in the league.  He was playing hardball by not signing the tag which i think he would have signed and played on

and that's how it should have played out letting him play 2016 on the tag and not resigning or tagging  him 2017 if a long term deal couldn't be reached

This is not that hard to understand..

Example..

Levon Bell wants a long term deal.. The Steelers don't want to pay him that much but they also don't want to lose a key cog to their team so they tag him...

He acts like he won't play under the tag.. The steelers don't flinch.. He signs and plays the season out .. Because nobody is leaving 13 mil in one year of work "guaranteed" on the table... Especially when you've barley made 4 mill in your life..

Well That's where we disagree.. I think renting a player for a year to help a young secondary transition into the Nfl is a smart move.. And what most consistently  winning teams do....Throwing a bunch of rookies into the fire "at one position group" seem dumb as fug.. And probably a reason GMan doesn't have back to back winning season  here when he had a superbowl quailty team..

Oh and just to hammer this in to ppl like Peppers91210 or whatever..

Why even use the tag if you are not prepare for a player to not sign it right away.. It's not like this is a new occurrence... Players have been doing this move when being tagged since the tag was invented.. Not only was he not prepared for a player to not bow down to the tag.. He waited till after there was no vet option to replace Norman when he rescinded it.. Then went into the draft having to take 3 CB just to field a secondary... At some point he has to field some blame for even having to big a ego or being unprepared for a common situation that happens in football negotiations...

Which is again another reason why I don' understand all of the hero worship GMan still garners.  I think it comes down to those who have a preference for hard ass management over hard working employees.  JNo did nothing wrong or out of the ordinary...  for a exec who is supposed to be impartial and unaffected or motivated by emotions, his entire behavior during those negotiations was personal, petty, and short-sighted.  His actions in that one instance sacrificed the success of an entire season or more (at least specifically the secondary's success) for his ego.

You can disagree all you want to. It does not change the fact that the Panthers we're not interested in a one year rental.

And we are still trying to rebuild a quality secondary when we had a Superbowl quality secondary.. But some how Gman won that fight?? Hahaha lol..

And they were wrong.. You go from a Superbowl team to a top 10 picking team in 1 off season.. You made bad decisions and you were wrong on your moves...

The franchise tag is mostly used just to extend negotiating time.

You do realize, until the player signs the tag, further negotions can't continue. There was never any intention for Norman to play under the franchise tag.

The last offer from the Norman camp showed the panther camp that they were just too far apart and numbers to retain Norman.

the other hypothetical b******* that you listed is a moot point as far as the Norman decision is concerned.

I'm not trying to claim gettleman won anything.

but go ahead and keep banging that drum.

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
