Watch and see and I promise I will bump this for you.

Sammy Watkins > Alshon Jeffrey, Dez Bryant, Davante Adams, and others.

so I disagree with you.

based on his Clemson play or his NFL play? cause if you're basing it on his nfl play, you might want to get checked out for some mental disabilities

Hey he had good catch % and high touchdown for Rams— got lost in the system— short run after catch throws and Gurley— Sammy is more of a downfield threat— was better with Buffalo.

He will have a team like Minnesota or other that throws deep and will thrive.

Mental disabilities? Coming from a guy(?) that calls people names in ever post? Funny.

Understanding how markets work, you would know Watkins will get close to that 12-14, looking at all the teams available cap but you spend more time name calling to trying to understand things, so carry on tough guy.

Alshon Jeffery Eagles $52,000,000 $13,000,000 $14,250,000 $3,562,500 27.4% 2022 UFA

jesus go do your fuging research. Watkins is nowhere close to any of those receivers

Only one of those receivers actually hit free agency. Watkins isn't on their level but only Jeffery got a bidding war.

I dont think he is worth it, and I hope the Panthers dont even go after him, I prefer A Robinson between the two. I was hoping we could somehow get M Bryant from the Steelers for a 3rd or something.

And if he gets paid, you will forget it.  Stop making this personal and attacking everyone who disagrees with you with name calling.  Not the way most here operate.

Smith was going to be a cap casualty anyway. he was going to get cut

and he wouldve been looking for a much bigger contract in free agency. Dude in Tampa just got massively overpaid and all the FA WRs are salivating over huge payouts right about now.

We woudnt have been competitive for WRs like Robinson or Watkins. Wouldve taken over half our current cap space to sign 1 of them and handicapped us into getting bargain bin FAs otherwise

It probably won't be $12-14M/year but it could be. It 100% absolutely will not be close to $5M/year like you suggested. Somewhere between $8M and $12M is most likely.

And his experience is something our WR corps needs. He's been to the Superb Owl twice. He's had to put the cleats on and play the day after his little brother was killed.

I think Smith's still got a lot to offer on the field, but he has even more to offer when it comes to the locker room and film study.

We needed someone like him and he's got quite a job cut out for him. If he can perform and teach like Jericho Cotchery did, he'll be worth every penny of his salary.

The point I have been making is that this contract was not guaranteed, so we should be able to work out a new deal--Smith could lose millions if he is cut.  I would add a year, give him a deal for 3 years at $3m a year, with the first year fully guaranteed and the second year $1m guaranteed.

We could do that too for sure. I do think $5M is more than ideal for Smith but if he fits with Cam better than Ginn did, which dare I say may be likely, he'd be well worth that amount. To get that number down by giving him some guarantees would just be an added benefit.
