TBF...Worley was not effective either.  At least Smith is fast and can stretch the field.  This move hardly destroys the team.  It is a gamble that might pay off if Smith can revert back to his 2011-2015 form.

I don't think so, it's just five mill and we haven't released 3 more players we can get rid of including Russell Shepard. It's not as terrible as you fugs make it out to be.

Pretty sure none of Smith’s contract is guaranteed for us so we could cut him at any point no problem if he doesn’t show he’s worth $5M. This may say more about what Hurney thought of Worley... I.e. he was going to be at risk of getting cut anyways.

This is actually a pretty good move. Worley wasn't good at all for us and obviously wasn't happy here. Smith would have gotten more on the market. This is a win/win for us.

Most people just want to complain. We’ve now got a proven winner who can stretch the field and is a great locker room guy. We did take on his salary and trade away a young (struggling) cb but if Gettelman made this trade most of the ones complaining would be lauding him for being so keen on spotting talent, but since it’s Hurney it has to be a bad trade.
