Panthers trade Worley for Torrey Smith

I just want to thank The Huddle for 40 pages of bickering on Torrey Smith. I been locked out of my house for 2 hours in 40 degree weather in flip flops, shorts and a t-shirt and this has helped pass the time. However, my phone is down to 11%, the sun is going down, and I’m cold, hungry, and lonely. So lonely. Send food please.

Watkins, Funchess, Torrey is a big upgrade over last year.

Funchess, Torrey, with no real #1 is not much of an upgrade.

We have some speedy guys, but nobody with enough of a resume to command any respect from defenses. Torrey Smith isn't elite, but he's done enough damage as a deep threat in the league to command some respect and attention in coverage.

He did at times.  I will add this to help you out--it helps me grasp it. Bradberry was usually on the opposition's #1 WR.  Adding a top CB drops Bradberry to the #2 WR--where I expect he will be better.

I am not sure that we will draft a WR--Funchess basically replaced KB and Smith will replace Funchess.  Samuel was hurt and learning last year--he will be a WR.  Byrd was hurt a lot--he will be #4.  I do not think an early WR draft pick is better than Smith or Samuel...

Normally, I would take a WR as you say, but we have needs at so many other positions.  I think it is more likely that Clay, Duke, Ross emerges from the PS to take the fifth spot---or Sheperd moves to #4 or 5 and Special teams---not worth the contract though.

Not sure I am right, but we will see.

reason i stated wr still should be on the radar the first 3 rounds is because we have funchess contract coming up next season, plus i like byrd, and samuel showed potential but the have big health concerns. really depends on if any wr slip, if not than i agree with you, no need to draft one.

Bring some facts.  "I hate..he's trash." Not contributing much.  Hard to dispute someone's baseless metaphors.  Here are some pointers:

  • Nobody really cares what you hate or don't hate.  That is not how we determine player values.
  • Trash/Garbage are not measureable terms and, frankly, they do not specify any reason you do not like the player.

It suggests your only purpose is to argue without points.  Hope this helps

How many people are using the same sort of terms to talk about Worley?

I am okay with the move, IF Norv approved and/or scouted it. If Norv thinks Smith can contribute and make a difference moving the chains and taking pressure off Cam and Funchess, then I'm down with it. Worley was fringe all along and didn't seem like a fit.

AND, if this leads to signing Sherman to start next to Bradberry, I'm even more okay with it. No sense having Worley on the bench when we could turn him into a serviceable WR who can help win now.

Sherman and Smith are definite upgrades over Worley and Shepard.

Come on Marty? Really? Why don't you go back to being a newspaper reporter.

Allen Robinson is available and this is what you do. You did get rid of Worley who has hurt us time after time.

Get with the program Marty. New Management might just have to get rid of you, too.

Sherman doesn't fit on the team.  No way we sign him until the Big Cat has sold the team.  Even then, dude is a cancer.

Jeez all the negative nillies

anyone paid or traded for would be too much too old too injury prone, doesn’t fit.

im happy.

torrey was someone I wanted, caught clutch bombs in the playoffs and Super Bowl.

im sure we will work out a new contract for him.

great pickup.

Couldn't have said it better myself

Sherman is the exact CB panthers need for their scheme, having him paired with Bradberry will make the rookie Saftey's job a lot easier.

P.S. more coverage sacks by Pep,KK,Mario, etc

We need a talker to come back, Josh Norman was sorely missed. Sherman will be on a come back deal.
