I seriously don't see how anyone can poo on this move or not see it at worst as a solid low cost gamble. Worley was not good. Our secondary needs an overhaul and it looks like it will get it this offseason. Smith is a skillset we have been lacking. Between one of Smith/Byrd we will finally be able to attempt deep passes again

Well you see there are 3 types of people on this board,

Those who hate Hurney and look at his every move as a mistake

Those that don't hate Hurney and try to look at each of his moves objectively

and

Stupid People.

If you keep those 3 in mind, all the post make more sense.

Are people forgetting that Worley was benched for part of the season for a guy that Hurney traded Kaelin Clay for (and got back for nothing)? And then Gunter came in late in the season and looked better than both for a hot minute.

I would not say that Worley was young "talent".

Good drugs you are on or bad ones I should say,...

Torrey is awesome and clutch. Wentz didn’t have a deep ball like Foles and that’s why Torrey blew it up in he playoffs—

Cam has a nice deep ball— Torrey will catch 700-1000 yards for us and 7-9 touchdowns a year

Are you a Maryland grad?  Torrey Smith is awful.

It's funny, experts said the same thing about Panthers last season when we traded Kony Ealy to the Patriots.

Patriots and Eagles are geniuses and all that but if you recall, Ealy didn't even make it to final 53 cut last year.

I’d say it’s an even trade if you consider that the Panthers just need a stop gap veteran speed threat for a super bowl run while their younger talent develops.

torrey smith hasn’t produced a 1000 yard season in five years

and most of our problems with developing WRs/getting them to produce are more scheme related and philosophical than talent. it is about the Xs and Os, not the jimmies and joes. so any WR we can bring in will be a long shot to produce because our offense has consistently struggled wit WRs getting YAC, and that’s where a lot of the production comes from. until the scheme changes you’re going to continue to see WRs struggle to be consistent.

that other part where you are talking about hurney being brave about trading KB well that doesn’t even make sense.

I think Torrey will have a high YPC with Cam like with with Foles.  wentz can thrown but doesn’t have as accurate a deep ball as Foles does—

torrey blew it up in the playoffs.

gotta remember that before Wentz it was Blaine Gabbert,.. mr Checkdown,..

Worley got owned by Michael Thomas and others consistently.

Gunter came into the playoff game and shut Thomas down until Worley came back in,.. Worley got turnstiled some more—-

this was a smart trade, Phili got the big D on this one.

no Vaseline

Lol, I see. Mostly lurk here. The reactionary stuff is just crazy. KB trade ended up being a great idea, sky was falling then too. Bottom line is that in a salary cap world you have to hit on a few of these value signings and trades rather than go out and blow stupid money in FA like the Dolphins, Bucs and Giants like to do. Torrey Smith is a smart chance that could pay nice dividends given this teams success with similar WR's(Ginn)

Have you watched Ted Ginn play football lately?

Wed need a legit 100 catch receiver and we got one who hasn't ever caught more than 60 in a season.

Wrong. We just need guys who can catch. Tell me about all the 100 catch receivers that the Eagles and Patriots have.

Yes.  Probably because teams were worried about their other pass catchers in Algholor, Jeffrey and Ertz.

Somehow I fall into all 3 of those groups at the same time

Well, Torrey Smith has alligator arms, so I'm not sure what your point is.

If Alshon could put together a full year with Wentz, I think he can get 100 catches.  Hell, he had high 90s twice with Jay F Cutler throwing him the ball.

    • We can't afford to reach for one of the first round QBs this year. I would love for nothing more than Bryce to be the reason we don't even scout the bastards
