Have you watched Ted Ginn play football lately?

Wed need a legit 100 catch receiver and we got one who hasn't ever caught more than 60 in a season.

Torrey Smith is garbage.  Ted Ginn dropped more TDs than he caught.  We would've been better off with Samuels out there.

Panthers acquire WR Torrey Smith from Eagles for CB Daryl Worley
If I were an NFL general manager, I'd be terrified to make any sort of deal with Howie Roseman. The man is a wizard and somehow finds a way to win every trade. He just robbed the Seahawks, so did he do the same thing to Carolina?

Torrey Smith is the bigger name in the trade, but that doesn't mean the Panthers are the winners. Smith was great for the Ravens during their Super Bowl run in 2013, catching 65 passes for 1,128 yards. However, Smith hasn't topped 770 yards in a season since, and at 29, time is running out for him to rebound. Smith wasn't very productive this past season, hauling in 36 balls for 430 yards and two touchdowns. He made some clutch plays, but also was responsible for countless drops. Owed $5 million in 2018, Smith had to be let go, as the Eagles are over the salary cap. The fact that Philadelphia got anything for him is definitely a bonus.

The Eagles won this trade. They dealt an aging, pedestrian player for a young cornerback with promise, all while saving $4 million or so in cap space. Worley, a 2016 third-round pick, had a semi-decent rookie year, but struggled in 2017. However, Worley has a chance to play better in Philadelphia because the Eagles, unlike the Panthers, have a great pass rush, so he won't be exposed as much. Plus, Worley is just 23, so he has plenty of room for growth.

Grade for Panthers - C+
Grade for Eagles - A-

Walter football hates the Panthers....see the bolded part to understand the lack of knowledge....Form NFL.com team stats:

Panthers sacks 2017 - 50.0 which is 3rd in the league.

Eagles sacks 2017 - 38.0 which is tied for 15th.

And he gives the Eagles an A- for what he calls a mediocre CB, and the Panthers a C+ for a veteran receiver with speed. What a joke.

Smith is a field stretcher, isn't too expensive. 5 mill? Really? That's it. And Worley is fuging trash.

I'm completely okay with this. Heard Smith is a good Locker Room guy too. I'm content.

Smith is the kind of mid-level vet I assumed we'd end up with, and $5 million is OK. Hurney brought in Seymour last season to take Worley's spot, and it's a good draft for corners. Plus we have Captain that can play a little outside if needed.  I'm not doing back flips down the hallway, but I like this trade.

People saying we could have waited until they released him are conveniently bypassing the reality that we aren't the only team desperate for a speed threat. You want to get to the front of the line or do you want to settle for another Russell Shepard?

Precisely. Cleveland has gobs of cap room and needs receivers of all shapes and sizes. Other teams have more cap room.

If Smith is the guy they wanted, why let him hit the market and have a team like Cleveland offer him $8-$10 million a season. People overpay in free agency.

Took this comment from PFT, but just a reminder about the Eagles' GM...

Doug Peterson's brass balls won the SB

Howie isn’t playing around. He’s playing Chess while Bellichick is playing checkers.

Cute. A few years ago Howie was playing unemployed in favor of Chip Kelly. Let’s pump the brakes a bit here with the Eagles claiming to be the next dynasty and Howie already being enshrined in the HoF. We’ve seen better teams fall apart a year after winning the SB (see Seahawks, Seattle). Philly had a great year and Howie made some good moves. Is it sustainable in the long-term, that’s the real question.

Walt is an Eagle fan who iirc has us taking a CB in the first because our CBs are bad.

Upgrade to who!?

he is an addition. We aren’t replacing anyone with him.

He's saying that he isn't an upgrade to our starting line up, which is true.  Not sure what's so hard to understand here.
