They had the same amount of targets but Sammy had 8 Tds Smith had 2 and People see Smith as a guy who has reached his peak and passed his prime while Watkins hasn't managed to hit those marks yet

i think most Panthers fans wanted Watkins at a reasonable deal also

Everyone said the same about Ginn too...but he flourished under our offense.  Smith should as well.  He is made for a vertical attacking offense.  Team's won't be able to double Funchess with Smith sprinting down the field.

Torrey Smith was going to get cut anyway - bad trade

Yeah but so was Worley... so to me that's a wash.  You have Smith now and can redo his contract.

Our secondary got masked during the first of year by playing subpar QB's, but once our schedule had elite QB's on it, they got absolutely lit up.  Bradberry is the only one that should be starting there this year.

No, it's not terrible at all. It's someone useless (Worley), for a deep threat that will be used as that in Smith.

For a deep threat he caught 2 TDs last season and averaged 11.9 yds per catch both were worse of his career

The problem is that Smith has been trash for a few years now.  If he has a bounce back season then this isn't bad but, at face value, it is trash due to the contract and Smith's recent history.

Future moves (Secondary, WR) can turn this trade into something that makes sense but it looks like classic Hurney getting schooled by better GMs.

I wanted a proven speed threat, and we got one. Worley wasn't a substantial loss at all, in fact we can upgrade fairly easily.

Spot on.  And with zero guaranteed money, it gives us flexibility.  Can cut him in camp if he sucks...wiklblijely restructure him for less....and Worley sucked.

Improving corner for a washed up guy that is no better than byrd at this point honestly AND we have to take on his $5million dollar a year contract!!! WHAT THE fug!?  THEY WERE GOING TO CUT HIM!. Less money for free agency. Fewer spots for an actual improvement at WR. We will be in this exact same spot next year after we cut him and now we are FORCED to find a corner somewhere.

We should have waited for him to be cut and signed his ass for 2 mil a year. I would have rather traded for the back up Hollins he is a long blazer and is at least young and cheap.

No reason to go after Mike Wallace now.

fug Marty Hurney that insane peice of poo.

Ok, like, I'm fine with trade to extent I guess... Maybe...

But I can't possibly be the only one on here who is seeing a dystopian future where Worley becomes an All-Pro shutdown corner for the Eagles who we got rid of for an aging WR...

And I only think that because Hurney made the trade.

Get him through trade instead of letting him hit the open market and possibly getting more.  Why so much hate?  Could be rejuvenated here much like Ginn was.

thats what im  hoping for.  We were desperately missing Ginn/SSmith down the field factor last year. Torrey was good with the Ravens, maybe he just got kinda lost in the the Eagles stacked WR roster.
