I know you’re including a good dose of sarcasm, which I’d usually appreciate. In previous years, I’d roll my eyes at people continuously asking about some of the bigger names about to hit the free agent market. This year is different.

Marty Hurney’s No. 1 priority is to improve Cam Newtonicon-article-link.gif’s weapons. How Hurney does that will be interesting since he has less than $30 million in cap space, and the Panthers, who are sitting at the mid-20s in the draft, also have holes on defense.

As far as the two names brought up here, I do think the Panthers are more willing than in years past to pursue guys like Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson and Rams wideout Sammy Watkins. Pursuing and landing are two different things, of course.

Teams like the Browns and Jets have gobs of money to throw around, so landing a big fish could be tough. Hurney isn’t going to get into a bidding war. He can’t afford to. So much of what will decide questions like this is what other teams are willing to spend.

For what it’s worth, of the pending bigger name free agent wideouts, I think the Panthers will be most intrigued by Watkins.

The difference now as compared to when Hurney was here is that we are a contender. If a player is looking to win a championship, there's a much better shot here. Yeah, some guys want to live in NYC, but its cold AF. We are much more attractive. One thing is Squatkins went to Clampsun. He would be more than willing to come play here and not command as much. Robinson may be looking for a huge payday. I still like Wallace and Maclin.

Based on what? Yeah, he went to Clemson, but he's from Florida. He's openly talked about how he would prefer to stay in LA and would prefer not to bounce around between teams all else being equal.

IF we enter the draft by picking up Darby, Wallace and Crowell, i'd be a happy camper. We could roll the dice if the perfect receiver is there. Still need a safety. Would love James. Don't trust the kid from West Virginia.

Well i mean who wouldn't want to live in LA but clearly that's not happening. Maybe he goes to Jacksonville then. Who would you rather team with Blake fuging Bortles or Cam?

So long as we are willing to play we can land a top WR. I think Allen Robinson will land a massive contract with the Jets, Browns, or 49ers. Watkins might be more reasonable but it really depends. Mike Wallace would help but would be less effective.

Panthers have a lot of holes, and don't have the money to sign any big name WRs. They have speed with Byrd and Samuel. Could use a vet WR to take some pressure off Funchess. I could see Eric Decker being signed. Panthers need to sign a safety, defensive end, guard depth, running back...too many holes to fill to drop big money on Sammy Watkins. It's not going to happen.

It' like this every year too many holes to fill. 8yrs and haven' filled a fricking whole yet!  What a waste ! You guys mocked the Saints and in 1 draft they fixed majority of their issues. Where we having been struggling to fill the same wholes for 8

What I'm saying is that he'll likely do what most free agents do - go to the highest bidder. All fanbases talk about why a guy would come to their team for a discount. Every pending free agent talks about going somewhere that will offer him the best opportunity and about how he wants to win. Then the guy ends up signing for the Browns or some other shitty team in some shithole city for boatloads of cash and he's all like
