It's funny how every year there are guys talked about as being "similar grades" and this and that. Fast forward five years and now how similar do they look? If you're sitting at #1 you probably need a franchise QB. If you think there's one there, you take him and don't try to get cute with it.

Cam Newton wasn't considered a generational quarterback either. Mayock had Gabbert over Cam in his evaluation. A year later Luck was considered a generational quarterback and how did that work out. Quarterbacks are not interchangeable nor are they equal even when graded similarly.

With their draft capital and cap space, I think the Browns would be best served by taking a pair of players like Saquon Barkely and Minkah Fitzpatrick at #1 and #4 and signing a veteran QB.

I'm scared of the QBs in this draft. Rosen has the whole Cutler "don't give a fug" thing going on. Darnold has a lot of intriguing things about him but the guy fumbles if a defender is even in the same zip code. Mayfield has the question of whether or not his playing style with translate to the NFL. Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson can't hit the broadside of a barn with a football. They obviously liked McCarron enough to trade a high second round pick for him. Sign him and then take the best two prospects on the board at #1 and #4.

Interesting--some in Cleveland are pushing for Barkely as # 1.

I think he's probably the safest pick and would probably do the most to help out a QB and RBs are obviously one of if not the most likely pick to have a major instant impact.

There's enough QB talent in this draft that surely one or two (possibly even more) will work out, but which ones will they be? I mean, I guess that question mark is always there, but it seems especially prevalent this year IMO.

Knowing how things work out in Cleveland though, I kinda see where Grossi has a point.

Grossi has been covering the Browns for a couple of decades now, I think.  Obviously, he's seen a lot.

(kinda wonder at what point some level of PTSD sets in)

The Newton pick was the pick...no debate...your point about Luck only strengthens my argument...the difference is the two picks...if only one pick then sure go QB...
