The rich get richer. Michael Bennett traded to the Eagles for a fifth rounder and a WR.

It’s tough to be optimistic with Hurndawg running the show

So when Gettleman was running the show and 90% of the threads were exactly this type of ...Oooh look a shiny trade....we are just gonna sit by and do nothing.....Yay we traded a 4th for a punter......Why are we not signing every single free agent?......but now it is because Hurney is running the show?

I have never in my life seen a more pessimistic whiny group of people that are 75% OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD.

Must have still been drunk on the celebratory champagne to have taken Bennett. The guy is worn out and has more name recognition than tread left on his tires.

8 1/2 sacks last year and not being brought in to be a starter. Eagles have Graham and Barnett starting and are deep at the position. They are constantly rotating guys in and out on that line. It's a good fit for Bennett and the Eagles... they wanted another pass rusher and that is what he is.

For Marcus Johnson and a fifth rounder? Eagles are in win now mode. Not much of a risk there from what I can tell. Now they can parlay trading Vinny Curry to replace what they gave up for Bennett.

It is a good deal on paper.  Bennett had 8.5  sacks and 40 tackles last year, and his contract is not guaranteed much for the next 3 years.  It is a gamble because you just don't know how much he has left.  His salary is about $7m per year for the next 3 years.

To me, you are not getting his best and I suspect he will decline sooner rather than later--he can be a pain in the ass too. Seattle tolerated the divas, but Philly won't.   He has had a slight history of knee injuries and recurring toe injuries.  Not sure how that pans out.  I am not going to question the free agency action of Philly too much--they have been either very good-like last year--or terrible, as they were 7-8 years ago when they bought every high priced free agent possible and went .500.

I'm not saying we should have gone after Bennett, because that couldn't be further from how I feel.  But I've got to respect a team that basically won the SB ten minutes ago making moves.    The acquisitions of Jeffery and Ajayi paid off for them when it counted.  Gotta respect it.

Why would we need a 33 year old DE? We just cut one of those.

....and Pep is 40?

CJ's career was effectively ended by injuries.

Bennet can still play at a high level. Not sure your take on Gettleman but one thing he for sure said that is true: "You can never have enough pass rushers."

I was just poking fun at the thread title that said "firth" rounder. Apparently it's been corrected so it makes no sense now.

Ok-the most you lose is the fifth rounder, the receiver that barely saw the field. and he plays for under $7m this year. I figured his salary was higher, Cutting him after this season  creates no dead cap $$--totally unguaranteed.  I would look at this like a one-two year deal with little risk.  It is a good deal for Seattle (cutting him) , but Philly can rework his deal, shorten it, etc.  Still,  under $7m is not bad.  Philly's neck is not out much.

Agreed. Wish after 15-1 we had the same approach.
