The rich get richer. Michael Bennett traded to the Eagles for a fifth rounder and a WR.

Not calling it a year but do you honestly think we’ll make a significant trade/signing this year? lol Don’t count on it.

Honestly, I do. This front office has to go all in to try to impress coming new ownership. If they don't give the new owner(s) ample reason to keep them, they're as good as gone. We have to have a buzzworthy offseason and it'll have to translate into on-field success for them to even have a chance of staying long-term and they're not stupid. They know it.

I hope I am in the wrong. I know it’s knee jerk reaction with some of these deals. But it’s frustrating when I keep seeing our team pass up on deals that could better this team without giving up valuable assets.

I, too have tried to have that train of thought “impress the new owners enough to keep me”. I want to keep optimistic but it’s hard with Hurney.

I get it. My thing is that this wouldn't have been a smart move for us anyway. We're already old at DE. We need youth for the future at DE, not more stopgaps. The Eagles are basically swapping out one aging DE for another one here. I'm not sure they got richer as much as they just got different. If we had made this trade, we would've also picked up a player who's cap hit will likely be near that of the impact free agent WR that everyone is wanting. Not sure we could afford both and I know for damn sure which one I'd prefer.

This is going to be a consistent complaint under Hurney. He didn't do a lot of big name free agent signings the last few years he was here preferring to build through the draft. He tried it in the past and it usually didn't work out. If he signs anyone I bet it will be a vet receiver and maybe a safety or so.

And we make the playoffs and try to ride what we have into the next season..

Literally all signs have pointed to us trying to improve the roster dramatically.

So, uh, sorry we didn't trade for a 33 year old rotational DE when we're trying to bring back a 38 year old one?
