Matt Miller's 7-round mock draft

Doubt we draft a S with any of the early picks. Rivera always likes to have older/veteran guys back there and under him 4th is the earliest we've picked one and Hurney only had 1 2nd rounder and a 3rd in Godfrey....this team doesn't draft S's high but FA will determine a lot so can't say for sure just yet.

No DE or RB.  That's not good..

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be shocked if we do come out of the draft without a DE. It's a really sorry 4-3 DE class. I'd rather not get one than reach on one and I think most of the 4-3 DEs after Chubb will be reaches do the shallow class.

Thats not too bad . We would need to have gotten a RB in free agency if that were the case though. Which means WR + RB in free agency.

McGlinchey is kinda iffy prospect for 1st round but potential is there for us to do much better that Matt Kalil. We can save a hell of alot of cap room by axing Ryan and Matt after 2018 season and restructuring Greg into a much cheaper deal.  Although that would mean we need to draft a good center this year or next year.

Honestly, I wouldn't be a huge fan of the McGlinchey pick at #24. I just don't think he's a LT in the NFL and we already have a young All-Pro RT. I wouldn't necessarily be upset by the pick because maybe I'm wrong and he is a LT and I think he's a good prospect either way, but I wouldn't exactly be excited about it.

Agreed, I'm not sure McGlinchey or Connor are franchise left tackles, which I want from a #1 pick . I'd rather grab a stud DT, DE, or even center/guard.

Edit: I haven't seen who was still on the board for this mock draft.

I’d rather get one of the pro bowl potential G/C guys. McGlinchey doesn’t excite me either. I think he’s less of an improvement over Kalil once he got adjusted than needing to replace Norwell and then Ryan in 2019. If Moton is our LT of the future then get Hernandez or Daniels and let Moton spend 100% of his time at LT and maybe replace Kalil later this year.

Again, no indication Moton can play LT...we need target LT not OG in draft

Not a bad draft for us considering he's drafting for 32 teams. That being said, based on who's available at each selection, I would have selected:

  • R1: Darius Guice RB
  • R2: Mike Geisicki TE
  • R3: Marcus Allen SAF
  • R3: Josh Sweat DE
  • R5: Justin Jones DT (toss in our 7th rounder to move up a few slots)
  • R6: Equaniemious St. Brown WR
  • R7: Trade in R5 to get Justin Jones

I don’t agree. All the Moton talk from the team was that Moton was a tackle. It’s been posted a few times in other threads. When Turner was hurt they didn’t put Moton in and Amini was dreadful and Moton was the outside guy on jumbo packages.

And...? So again no real indication he can play LT...it is still easier to move inside...so draft another LT and you cover OT and OG...the weakness remains at LT so that should be the focus...but by all means give us some reason to hope...
