we arent yahoos. Get that trash outa there. I want an owner that takes out the trash

what could be worse? Maybe an owner with no football knowlege mandating we resign old expensive players just for good feelings..  o wait..

You are aware he's the only owner to have played? Surely you know that?

That was the down side of him yes, but he also has done a lot for the city of Charlotte, I mean he did bring us a freaking franchise and got a stadium built with relatively low public financing. We have gone to two Super Bowls and many more playoffs than America’s team in the Cowboys for example.

I wouldn’t say mediocre on team performance alone. Much less to the fact that none of us are here talking football today without him. That’s why I say he has been an excellent owner.

Brought the franchise to the area, yes. But if you're talking about what he's done as an owner and your first answers are about things like stadium building and what he's done for the city, that says something.

If you have to bring in other factors to balance the team performance, then it basically acknowledges that the team performance isn't so great.  Again, we've had moments, but they've never been consistent.  And after the one period in team history where they were actually the most consistent, he fired the guy in charge.

So yeah, brought pro football to the area, but as an administrator he's done a piss poor job.

Since I can’t start new threads, I’ll post this here...

Kelsey Riggs from wcnc reported yesterday that a number of international buyers have expressed interest. No word on how serious this interest is, but let’s hope it isn’t. Moving a team to another country is the only scenario I see the NFL approving a panthers move. An international owner makes that possibility VERY likely.

Tomlin is an overrated head coach with more talent than any team in the league. He inherited a team from Cowher where the fundamentals for winning a SB were in place and he had to be a motivator. He did that well...but now he’s vastly underachieving and I wouldn’t have considered it a shock if the Steelers had let him go. His team is amazing and his FO is the best in the league at identifying talent...even better than Belichick.

If Tomlin is overrated and underachieving, then gimme some of that.  With his resume as it is,  he's arguably a HoFer right now.

You guys act like sustaining excellence is easy when you see evidence to the contrary essentially every year.

Sure, he isn't  perfect,  but nobody is.  A play call here or there,  maybe if AB doesn't  take a cheap shot that puts him out,  then another elusive Super Bowl ring would be on Tomlin's fingers right now.

Overrated? Ha!

You seem awfully upset.  Maybe you shouldn't take an opposing opinion so personally.  If you actually believe Ron Rivera has gotten everything one would expect out of the talent this team has had over the last seven seasons, then we won't possibly be able to agree, and there is literally nothing you could "articulate" that is going to change my opinion.  Feel free to knock yourself out doing that, but I won't see it because you'll be on the long list of folks I've ignored on this board where you should have been long ago.  Have fun.

Actually he doesn't  seem "awfully upset, " he's just issued you a challenge which you already told him that you aren't  going to accept,  and you basically said that supporting evidence that blows your narrative up about Ron won't be accepted regardless, so...

Thats all that matters to me.  Many people on this forum have spent 20+ years supporting this team and being left wanting.  I am ready for the risk of a new owner who is more fickle and ruthless when it comes to success.  If that means he is more brash and unpredictable but gives us a chance to have a back to back winning season then I am ready for that risk.  There is always the possibility that high risk high reward style could end with failure but it is time we shift from conservative to aggressive.   JR spent years focused on running a smooth and steady operation with strong returns on investment and not taking huge risks and going outside his comfort zone.  He had just enough success to suck us back in year after year and remained comfortably right in the middle of the pack.  I can not watch another 20+ years of that crap.  I may not live another 20+ years at that rate.

At the end of the day we have zero say in this process so I will hope for the best but I for one started to worry about my future as a fan under the old style so any distance from form is a good thing for me.  Maybe if Tepper wins a Super Bowl we can melt the JR statue and replace it with a pair of 2 story tall balls.
