What is the realistic ending to 2018 to save everybody's job?

They might be.

Ask yourself this though: How realistic is it to believe a new owner won't want to put their own stamp on the team?

The only instances I can think of where someone came in and just left everything exactly as it was were with family owned teams where ownership passed from one generation to the next. Outside of that, it's pretty common for a new owner to want to remake the team in their own image.

I'd expect everyone to be safe through this season at least. With the coaching staff that's pretty well guaranteed. Business and front office people? Not so much. They can be dumped and replaced anytime after the sale is approved without it necessarily having a major impact.

Lot of things up in the air right now.

I think you have to evaluate everyone on their own merits, I think the owner will definitely want to put their own mark on the team, and sooner then later at that.

But......

The team also isn’t under the normal circumstances for a turnover currently either. We have been in the playoffs 4 of the last 5 seasons, and have some good key elements on the team, a very good coach, a franchise QB and a DMVP level MLB.

I think we will initially see a turnover in the front office at some key positions and then a gradual change everywhere else as warranted.

but I do not see us firesale firing everyone attached to the current team unless they fall flat on their faces.  We would have to do either extremely poorly this year. Or below average over the next two season for the owner to pull the trigger on the reset button.

Basically if you take over a business that is doing rather well, and meeting its goals. You don’t just press the reset button and fire everyone. You just tweak it a bit where you think it needs some help and changes and adjust accordingly going forward. And that’s what I think will happen.

we may not see the impact of the new owner till 2019 or 2020 at the earliest.

Realistically, if the team goes 10-6 and makes a playoff appearance, it will be hard to let either Ron or Marty go. Really, that is a reasonably successful season as for job security. It doesn't take much more than that because the alternative can be so very bad. Ask the Lions, Colts, 49ers, Browns, Raiders and Chargers how things have been going fanwise.

If you've got a team that is winning more than it is losing and gets a play-off spot, you're way ahead of the pack. That puts butts in seats, pushes more merchandising out of your market area and means job security for the guys getting it done. If you can go further than the first round, even better. Your expectations aren't to win a Superb Owl every year, but to be a contender. Your hopes are to bring home the trophy, but there's a lot that goes into winning one of those that doesn't deal with your coach, GM or even your players.

That being said, there have been coaches canned after playoff appearances and winning records. Ask John Fox the next time you see him in Charlotte. His run with the Broncos was statistically good and had a Superb Owl appearance before he and the team "mutually agreed to part ways."

Crazy things happen like that, especially when Elway is involved.

A new owner is going to come in and hire a GM that fits the philosophy he has for the team (IMO, it won't be Hurney due to so much baggage and uneven performance here, along with wanting to put his own stamp on the organization separate from JR), and he'll likely give the GM the authority to make the decision on the head coach.

Rivera is a good coach, and I think most in the league respect him, but with JR gone, I don't see him kept on out of loyalty this time, or even based on how the team finishes.  A new GM is going to want to build the team that fits his vision, and whatever coach he hires will need to share that vision.  Now that can absolutely be Rivera, especially if the team does well this year.  But Rivera's been here quite a while and is so tied in with JR that most likely the new GM will want to break with the old regime and start with a fresh face on the organization.

So basically, I think everyone in the organization needs to pray for a current minority owner to take control if they want to keep their jobs.  Otherwise, I see this coming season as the last for Rivera and co. (if the sale approved in May, Hurney may not even survive that if the new owner has some available GM candidates already in mind (Tepper and his Steeler guys Scot has talked about?)
