OL Orlando Brown Isn't Considered A First Rounder Anymore. In Fact, Some Say He's A Day 3 Pick Now...

Not surprising at all. His combine wasn't just bad or even awful. It was quite possibly the worst combine performance ever. I think it's a slam dunk worst combine ever if we're strictly talking about guys who were considered potential 1st round picks. Probably half of the OL at the D3 level would've performed better. That doesn't mean they're better football players, but his performance definitely introduced massive question marks about his ability to transition to the NFL level.

I honestly don't think I'd draft him. At all. Give him a shot as a priority UDFA? Sure, absolutely. But I think he raised sufficient question marks this weekend to take him off of a lot of draft boards. It was just THAT bad.

That would probably be the wrong thing to do. Many counted him out after High School. He proved everyone wrong for four straight years, and now people are doubting him after the NFL fuging Combine? Talk about adding a chip on the shoulder of already a mad player.

Someone will take a flyer on him in the second or third round, and probably get a stud. We also need to wait for his Pro Day.

I've been lurking his threads the past few days and I know you're his biggest supporter on here, but there is something to be said about how unprepared he was for the combine, and that's a huge red flag for anyone that would want to draft him. Has there been any report of some personal issue that resulted in his horrible performance? The only player I can remember having a historically horrible combine and coming back to have a solid career is Vontaze Burfict.

Nothing from what I gather. So, I'm not sure. But, when he faced elite Defensive Lines in College he dominated. Ohio State, and Auburn for instance. Joey Bosa did nothing vs him.

Call me crazy but I tend to weigh actual on-field performance a little more than underwear olympics. His size, pedigree, and game tape will be too much for someone to pass him up. He won't make it to the third.

Absolutely. The combine is both overrated and underrated. When a speedy WR runs 4.5+ and people start freaking out, I doubt NFL talent evaluators are "freaking out". They definitely go back and look at the tape and reaffirm what they'd seen previously. But when guys go to the combine and post numbers where literally no one at their position has every performed like that and gone on to have NFL success... whoa. NFL GMs and scouts are all about comps. Everyone misses some picks, but it's nice to be able to have excuses to justify WHY you took said prospect. Let's use Everette Brown for an example. Yep, bust. BUT, he had good college production. He had good workouts. You can justify why that pick was made. Now let's look at Orlando Brown. Great college player, but he went to the combine and posted numbers that were absolutely bottom of the barrel. Let's say you take that guy in the 2nd round and he predictably busts. How are you justifying that pick. The combine essentially told you that he either wasn't an NFL caliber athlete or he completely blew off the combine and didn't give a rat's ass about his one all important multi-million dollar job interview and probably won't have the work ethic to succeed in the NFL. I honestly don't think you can justify more than a day 3 pick on the guy unless he turns around and performs way better at his pro day.

That's a valid concern.

That said, if game film checks out (and he has some accomplishments to speak of) and the interview process determines that it's not a work ethic issue, I'd have no problem with using a day two pick on him.

NFL level conditioning programs will get him in shape. That's for certain.

    • I didn't say much bigger. Watch the highlights I linked. Bryce doesn't have the arm strength and/or talent to make the vast majority of the throws Mac made in that video.
    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
