Good stuff, Verge. Thanks.

Different sort of question, and one you might not be able to answer. I am wondering though if the person you talk to has any sense of how safe the Panthers scouts or staff feel their jobs are with ownership up in the air.

I'd have to imagine they're kind of nervous.

He doesn't really feel comfortable with disclosing that kind of stuff. I gave it a shot though.

Just some notes:

His room isn't buying Josh Allen #1 and sees it as a smoke screen, said Darnold grades out way too high. They would be surprised if it was Allen,  but wouldn't put it past the Browns.

He feels as though Josh Rosen has kind of fallen out of favor in a lot of rooms due to his attitude and ability to be coached, he expects Baker to go ahead of Rosen.

He has heard the Panthers love the tight ends at the end of round 1 and is heavily leaning towards us taking one with our first pick. Probably Hayden Hurst.

There will be a bidding war between the Dolphins and Cardinals to get up to grab Josh Rosen.

Bills trade talk has been quiet, he presumes that is because a deal is already in place for them to move up to either 2 or 5.

Mason Rudolph is being talked about as a first round pick despite his day 2 grade. Can run a RPO offense and has a nice deep ball.

The Browns are gunning for Barkley at four and have no interest in Chubb.

Also, his personal top 10 since we were kicking the idea around, meaning his highest graded players:

1. Quenton Nelson
2. Sam Darnold
3. Bradley Chubb
4. Roquan Smith
5. Saquon Barkley
6. Tremaine Edmunds
7. Denzel Ward
8. Josh Allen
9. Derwin James
10. Josh Rosen

I just have a gut feeling Browns go Barkley #1.

If they dont take him at 1, I just dont see a way Gettleman passes on him.  After last year where reports were they like Garrett and Trubisky.  And expected to go Garrett then trade back for Mitch.  Then backfire once they didnt pick him, Chicago jumped and grabbed him at 2.

With the amount of "top tier QBs" this year, and the Browns showing interest in all of them.  Just dont see them passing on Barkley when good possibility they lose a chance at him for #4 and can still get a QB they like at #4

Just a wild Guess on how things will go

1. Browns-Barkley

2. Giants- Gettleman trades with his former work partner Beane.  Buffalo grabs Darnold

3. Jets- Mayfield

4. Browns- Allen

Are there any serious talent players who they think could get pushed out of the 1st with no room in the 32 with 5-6 QBs in the first.

I like Hurst as well but is there any other TE they could consider in the first if they don't get him. Would they be interested in Goedert?

One of the reasons why I always like info from people who are actually in on the process is that it always shows just how far off target the sports media is.

People go nuts because Guy On The Internet said Player X should have been taken in the third rather than the late first. Generally speaking, Guy On The Internet is not, never has been and never will be a professional scout. Even if he's Guy In The Media, he still doesn't have access to the actual team draft boards and grades.

This is why it's such a farce when people take draft grades from Guy On The Internet or Guy In The Media seriously.

One guy I think could be a surprise pick for us would be Leighton Vander Esch.  I think LB is a need and he seems to be a really athletic dude.  Any comments on him?

Could go pretty early, sees him as a versatile guy who could also pass rush. Top 20ish range.

Goedert would make sense, but they would probably pass if it's not Hurst.

Yeah I watch Hursts tape and I like him. He is a really good blocker as well.

Josh Rosen is off at least three teams draft board.

He expects Sony Michel to go in the top 20 ahead of Guice.

Still believes it will be Darnold #1 and Barkley #2

Believes our pick comes dow to best WR available or Hayden Hurst.
