So wait, let's back things up a bit here. Is Hurney actually running the show, or is he basically just an empty suit doing JR's bidding? The consensus on that seems to change rapidly. For months we've heard about ol' meddling Jerrrruhhhh Richardson forcing DG into backing up a brinks truck to one of the worst left tackles in football in Matt Kalil. Then we heard about how JR fired DG because Davis and Olsen supposedly whined to JR about how mean Gettleman was. So does JR have a hand in these current decisions, or doesn't he?

if gettleman was still here and he put butker on the PS so that KC can scoop him up, and the regular season stats between him and gano were the same, no doubt you’d be bitching about it nonstop

I get the Gano vs Butker comparisons and the inevitable "what if" scenarios stemming from that. But it wasn't much of a fair competition anyway. We expected a green rookie in camp to unseat a seasoned veteran from the jump.

Regardless of how Butker performed in camp, we knew all along that throughout his career Gano has been streaky to put it kindly. That's why we were able to get him so easily in FA after he was ran out of town in Washington. He performed well enough with us the next few years and earned an extension, though he still had a few whiffs along the way. Even I was a vocal Gano guy at that point. But after his performance in 2016 is when we should have brought in some stiff competition for him in camp the following year. And I don't mean a rookie we just took a late round flyer on. Actual competition. We opted for a half measure, and now we are being backed into a corner facing the reality of tagging a kicker. This is on DG as much as it is Hurney.

This just shows how much gettleman is better then Hurney . Gettleman was plan was to cut gano last year so we wouldn't be in this damn mess that's why he drafted bukter . Mother Ferrari !!!!!!!

Hurney is so dumb but hey people he's just like Jerry .

Hurney made all the wrong moves and gettleman is building a power house for the Giants . It's honestly scary what gettleman is going to do with a ton of cap space . He's going to make us look like a joke which we are .

I hope you are not serious.

lol wtf are you even on atp with these retarded fabrications? it’s gettleman’s fault he drafted a good kicker that wasn’t immediately apparently good bc we needed a kicker who was immediately better than gano to unseat gano?

this whole marty hurney return has done wonders for your cogency. i’ve never seen someone double down on completely flawed logic for the sake of saving face.

I don't understand your last sentence.

Gettleman invests a draft pick on a kicker that made 208 out of 210 extra points and was 15 for 17 his senior year.  Our choice is a mediocre kicker making 4m or a promising young kicker making .5m.

This is 100% a Hurney fugup.  How in the world is this on Gettleman?

Except I've repeatedly criticized Hurney for that. So what's your point?

What fabrications? That Butker struggled in camp and faced a seriously uphill battle as a rookie unseating a veteran with a tough contract to move on from without eating cap space?

I mean, do you want to debate on whether or not DG would have cut Gano outright in favor of Butker?

What does what he did in college matter? Did we all just imagine Butker struggling in camp?

Well I guess how a player performs in the past is not an indication of how he will perform in the future?

I was not at camp however my understanding was that Gano was marginally better during this 4 week period.  I did not hear Butker was bad, just that Gano was doing a little better.  3.5m better?  Uh, no.

These are the exact decisions that Hurney makes that unnecessarily eats up our cap.

We're all going to wince just a little bit when Gano comes out for a crucial kick this year. Don't even try to deny it.

I haven't watched a Gano kick in 2 years. When he comes out to kick,  my eyes are closed and I am saying a silent prayer.  Usually wait to hear the crowd or my wife's reaction before I open them.

Gano missed one goal all year he was 29 out of 30 with his longest being 48. He can hit from 55 or 60 so distance isn't the issue.  He also.led the league in touch backs which helped special teams.

Butkur may not have missed an extra point but he missed 5 field goals or 15 potential points versus Gano's 6 points 3 extra points and one field goal..  No it was a good decision for KC to.pick Butkur up but it was fine to use Butkur to push Gano to have a probowl season.  It was money well spent. Not dumb at all.

we never got to see what gettleman had planned for butker, but i know one thing that’s guaranteed; i’ll never log into this board and not see you make any point you want as long as it suits your purposes.
