So is every other team in the NFL. It's not like we're the only team who has this problem. That's life in the salary cap era of the NFL.

Not happening.  For the same reason we are not tagging him, others will not pay it either.

How much intel did Gettlemen release when he was here?  Not much. Suddenly, we learn that he is interested in paying Norwell a ton of cash?   I think he is messing with us, getting us to tag him.  We will see.

Because if you tag him, he'll probably sign it immediately . . . and then you're trying to trade a guard who has a franchise LT contract.  He might be the best guard in the NFL, but no one is going to pay him LT money.

Isn’t the salary cap the average of the highest players in that role? How does that equal the highest paid this year?

Would you give up a second for an extremely overpaid guard?  You've just answered your own question when you admit you wouldn't.
