Allen Robinson Is Very Likely OUT Of Jacksonville

Someone on the Jags forum brought up the possibility of trading Robinson to us for Norwell in a double tag and trade... Could be interesting but highly unlikely. Would love to see Norwell with the Jags rather than the Giants or like some have brought up as a possibility, the Falcons...

Do want. This is the guy I wanted BAD in the second round that year but honestly didn't expect him to be there. He was. We took Kony Ealy at #60, Robinson went #61 to the Jags.

Surely coming off of a torn ACL will keep his contract somewhat reasonable.

Maybe a Keenan Allen type contract? 4 years/$45M?

I wanted hm bad too,  but it all depends on the prognosis of his knee.  We certainly  have the doctor to answer that question.

wish people would stop saying this. Look at who they played. A guy whose started a handful of games is not a selling point

They played some decent teams, including the extremely hot with an elite D Jags team. Jimmy lit them up with scrubs at receiver. I'm not sold on him yet because it'll be different when teams have film on him but there is a lot about the kid that looks very good and I think Shanahan is a solid coach.

Makes sense to fans but wouldn't make sense to NFL GMs. We'd be stuck trying to negotiate a long-term deal with a WR with a guaranteed one year $16M payday in his pocket and the Jags would be in an even worse spot trying to negotiate a long-term deal with an OG with a guaranteed one year elite LT payday in his pocket. The teams would likely be better off just signing the guys on the open market.

This is actually BAD news for us. Allen Robinson is completely out of our price range while Marqise Lee would have been a very real possibility for us.

Whether good or bad, nobody is out of our price range. Money for this year can be cleared up EASILY. Hurney made a career of pushing it back his first go around, and if reports are true the FO may be going all in for a SB win this season.

I agree that's why I said it's highly unlikely and it's just an interesting thought. However one reason for NFL GMs to do something like that would be to guarantee you get your guy. On the open market Norwell or Robinson could choose to go anywhere without the Panthers or Jags being able to do much about it without trying to win a bidding war.

Finally!  Who knew that Allen Robinson would be a person that we all can agree on? Perhaps it's a sign.

Hurney, make it happen!

Depends on the cost. If it's something like a 1 year prove it deal, less than $13M or so then sign me up. If he's getting long term deal offers for more than that then hell no... And with the Huddle all agreeing on it I'm having second thoughts. The Huddle doesn't have a great track record collectively with these kinds of things...

The more I think about it the more I think we should at least offer a Davante Adams type contract. We need an outside receiver so bad and the way contracts are going, the longer we wait the more expensive it’s going to get.

At least an Adams type contract?

That's pretty serious money.
