All these combine superstars end up getting way overdrafted.

Like I said in the other thread,  some had him going fairly high months before the Combine.  So,  just because YOU had him going in the third doesn't outweigh what others think.

What's the date on these?  Huh?

D.J. CHARK, WR - LSU

EARLY 2018 PROJECTION: 1st round (rated No. 3 WR by NFLDraftScout.com)

(Pick) 40 Bills: D.J. Chark, WR, LSU

___

From an inferior site, November 4, 2017

"ESPN’s Mel Kiper grades LSU senior WR D.J. Chark as a Day 2 prospect, and feels Chark could end up being the top senior receiver in this 2018 class. According to NFL Draft Scout’s Rob Rang, Chark has shown "elite skills" this year. "Broad-shouldered, with a tapered, athletic frame and outstanding overall athleticism, Chark looks the part of a star NFL receiver. Rang said. Chark’s speed, size and ability to return kicks could make him one of the first wideouts to be drafted this spring."

WR D.J. Chark

This speedster broke out as the Tigers' most dangerous receiver in 2016 and can take it a step further in 2017. With a little more weight and getting more variety in routes and catches, he could become an early-round pick.

Sporting News, October 15, 2017

"Chark is big (6-3) and quick, and if he got more than two or three touches a game in the LSU offense his draft prospects might soar. Still, he looks like a possible third-round pick under current draft projections, according toWalterFootball.com , but more Saturdays like this one and his stock is sure to climb."

So basically, Chark's opportunities were extremely limited at LSU,  but some were still projecting him as a high pick. He had a great game against Auburn,  and put up even more yards at the Senior Bowl.  Many people said that his stock could very well rise many months before the Combine, and it obviously did, with good reason.  His Combine performance is just making the case of what some already suspected. With good team workouts,  his stock may be cemented,  and rightfully so, as a late first,  but certainly second round pick. I mean, damn,  right on NFL.com's own site,  the kid has a second round draft projection (and had it before the Combine).

Please pump the brakes on the Chark hype. He's a workout warrior. Tarzan in the gym, Jane on the football field.

This is the corniest poo I've ever heard.

And it's wrong

In 2017 Chark had 874 of his teams 2,645 passing yards. He lead the team in receiving yards.

He is also a player Leonard Fournette spoke on about he's worked harder to get playing time , I'd say he's not just a combine warrior.

But you never heard of him before the combine so,

Mike Gesicki is on the radar now with 4.54 40 time.

God I hope not.  He is a great athlete but if you watch him play he runs routes like his feet are stuck in mud and is afraid to block anyone.  The only time you see the speed he showed yesterday is when he has the ball in his hands in the open field.  Which is almost never in college and never in the NFL.

If you're going to try to insult someone at least know what you're talking about. I expected Chark to perform well at the combine and Senior Bowl and for that yo get him overdrafted. Still wouldn't take him before the 3rd.

I just disagree with them, plain and simple. Yes, I do think the Senior Bowl and Combine significantly helped him. I'll be surprised if he lasts beyond the late 1st/early 2nd range. Body catching scares me more than just about anything else with a WR.

I hope we draft Hayden Hurst. He is the complete TE in this draft. Even though he will be 25 start of the season, if something (God forbid) to Olsen again, Hurst can take over.

Dallas is my #2.

If we waited till end of the 3rd, Gesicki.

Just saying.

Kirk had one body catch too.

If Chark has a great work ethic and perfects his craft he will be a good one.    I'm sold on the talent.  Watching him compete at the combine and nail all drills you could tell he was very prepared.   Great sign.

I'm not talking about drills. I'm talking about during football games.

OK, can you look at all these catches and tell me that Chark is a definitive body catcher,  or is he catching the ball with his hands and pulling it into his body?

I just find it weird that I can't find scouts labelling Chark as a body catcher (like they've done so many others)? And,  at the end of the day people have said that he has "above average hands," and a "lower drop rate" among SEC receivers.

I mean,  something must be amiss here. Why can't I  find this information about having such bad hands and body catches being a problem?

You can seriously watch that video and not see that half of those catches are body/arms and not hands?

I get it, when a guy runs really fast and jumps really high at the combine everyone gets excited but it doesn't make him a better football player. I'm not saying he's a bum, but he's a project.
