Could We Be Planning to Move James Bradberry to FS?

His problem was trying to freelance,  and the coaches (especially Rivera) weren't going for it.

Neither should they have. I only remember one time it ever worked out, i think in the Redskins? game in 2015 where he jumped a pass and was technically completely out of position but it still worked out great since he got the INT. Its awesome, highlight-reel material when it works, but it makes the player, coaches, and team look stupid when it doesnt.

Bradberry had a better rookie season than either  of Norman’s first two seasons. It’s amazing how people forget about that. Stop saying he’s shown no promise. I agree last year he took a step back but c’mon stop acting like 2016 didn’t exist. Heck wasn’t one of the top two rated rookie CBs and in the top 25 of alone CBs?

Norman didn't even really play season two...

Anyway,  what we need to figure out is which Bradberry is the real Bradberry. Before last season,  he had an excellent shortened (for purposes of this argument) season, but he took a step back his first full season.  What did Norman do his first full season?

Anyway, this isn't really about Norman,  it's all about Bradberry.  I would have thought that he would have showed marked improvement this past season, being who we thought he was, but he looked bad. It was disappointing---almost like night and day.  I said it earlier that this year would tell the true story.

But make no mistake,  he and Worley (who arguably played better than Bradberry last season) didn't play like they were befitting of day two picks. Their play was poor.

I hope you're right.  I just saw too many bad angles, some missed tackles and, frankly, missed PI calls against him.  If he could just hold his own...This is the year for it to all come together.

Short of us landing Matthieu in FA, you might just get your wish.  We should probably draft Derwin James if he is on the board (I'm serious). The only thing that worries me is the compelling reason for an RB. But I think that safety should be more compelling. I don't see how we don't draft a safety with one of the first two picks.  James in the draft! J-No in FA!  Then we'll see if your theory about Bradberry is correct.

I can't imagine that anyone would be higher on our draft board than James at #24. Someone shocking would've had to have fallen. Honestly, James at #24 would be shocking.

I think we have to wait and see how Washington uses the corners and safeties to determine if they need a change of position or a different scheme. The difference between Bradberry the last two years was a different scheme and being put on a island in man coverage against the leagues best receivers. He isn't bad he just isn't a man coverage guy yet. He doesn't have fantastic athleticism so he has to improve his technique to compensate. He is a very good zone cover guy and is learning how to be a better man coverage guy. We need Richard Sherman to give him a few lessons in playing man coverage.
