Keep an eye on any 4.7 WRs and CBs to the Giants.

I get it that Gettleman values game tape over workouts as he should, but virtually completely ignoring timed speed is a big part of how we ended up with such a lack of speed in our WR corps and secondary.

Timing speed does not equal game speed.  Reaction time is a better quality to have.  Our guys are fast enough but they were handicapped by predictable routes and coverages.  Scheme was our biggest problem.

I agree on reaction time, but we just plain don't have enough quality speed in those position groups. The speed that we do have (Byrd, Clay, Shepard, etc) are all either very raw or borderline NFL caliber talents.

You forget Samuel.  Our DB's are not slow by the way.  No DB can keep up with a sprinter one on one for more than a few seconds.  Coverages compensate  for that.  Our problem was slow reaction times from our safeties which hung the DBs out to dry.

I'm referring to general traits.   Too much stock is put into combine stats.

I meant Samuel when I typed Shepard. Brain fart on my part.

Worley is slow for an NFL CB. I'd say Bradberry has fairly average speed.

That's because they are thinking before they react.  It's a rookie thing.  Game hasn't slowed down for them yet.  This season will tell the tail, assuming we have a competent coverage scheme going in.  All bets are off if they blitz as much as they did last year.

Worley is just plain slow for an NFL CB, period.

He ran a 4.64. He plays like a 4.64 guy. Norman ran a 4.66 but he had elite instincts and ball skills. Worley doesn't.

He's really not.  He is still over thinking it too much.  Opposing coaches know that and that's why they target his area of the field more with multiple receivers causing him to hesitate just enough to create separation.  It's a common ploy used on rookies.  Our safeties didn't help him when that happened either.

The 40 in particular isnt extremely meaningful. Kamara ran a middling 40 but his game speed is great.

Not sure if I really learned much from the RB drills today. Everyone did pretty much as I expected.

Tomorrows going to be alot more interesting with the QBs, Wrs, TEs. Then Mondays really important for us with the DBs.

He wasn't a rookie last year. I agree that our safeties don't help our CBs, but if you can't recognize that Worley has below average speed for an NFL CB then I don't know what to tell you.

Norman took 3 years to learn to cover in Ron's scheme.  He has good ball instincts now but his first couple of years he looked lost.
