Your Predictions for our Current RB, WR, S situation

With Stew released we dont have a power back on the roster. Coleman released we just have an elderly Mike Adams and who else at saftey? Then at WR we have Funchess and no one else who has proven they can stay healthy and contribute reliably for a full season.

Im not panicing , the combine and free agency are just around the corner though so,  I'm just curious as to how you guys think we will fill the roster holes .

The pickings are fairly slim in free agency with RBs and safties. I think we use the draft for those 2 and we pick up a couple of WRs in free agency. No idea who though.

One of the more interesting scenarios would be if we trade for a player. Id gladly throw 1 or both of our 3rds at Pittsburgh for Martavus Bryant.

whoops nevermind, Steelers apparently arent interested in trading away M.Bryant.

Id take Sammy Watkins on a reasonable deal.

Would not surprise me at all if we drafted either Derwin James or Ronnie Harrison with our R1 pick. And use one of our 3rds to trade up a bit in the 2nd to get our WR or RB of choice.

Draft  Chubb & WV Saftey .

I rather draft a TE like Fumgali or Goedert than take a chance on a bust WR class.

Early to tell with available players and the combine/pro days will transform the slots that prospects end up in. As of today, here's my plan:

  • WR - TRADE ......  Trade for Martavis Bryant
  • RB - DRAFT .......  Draft Chubb in R2 or Rashaad Penny in R3 or Freeman in R4
  • SAF - FA/DRAFT .....  SS Eric Reid in FA and Draft Allen/Bates/Blanding/Elliott

Here is what we will do; mark my words:

In free agency, we will

  • sign Richardson WR from Seattle.  (about $7m)
  • sign Julius Peppers DE (about $5m)
  • sign Shamar Stephen NT from Minnesota (about $3m)
  • sign Trey Burton TE from Philadelphia (about $6m)
  • Sign Terrence Brooks FS/SS NY Jets (about $4m)

DRAFT

  1.  Billy Price, OG/C  (Wild pick)
  2.  Kyzir White SS
  3. Nick Chubb RB and Brandon Parker LT
  4. NO PICK
  5.  Holton Hill CB
  6. Durham Smythe TE
  7. Chase Edmonds RB  and Jamil Demby G/T

I love how everyone's solution is "oh we'll just draft them". You really want to start a 7th round safety? Pretty sure we have a 6th round running back on the roster and unless he starts, ain't going to work. It's too early to see the plan. We fill holes in free agency with hopefully productive players. I don't think paying tre boston to come back is a good idea when we can get a safety in round 1 and 2. but WR and RB should be sought out in FA, same with defensive end and corner.

I expect us to bring in cheap veteran FA running backs to compete. Also draft one in the mid rounds and bring in an UDFA RB. It will be important to have RB competition in camp. Same goes with wide receiver and safety. Pretty much the same stuff we do every year. Doubt we make any huge FA splashes so I am hoping we have a great draft and our first few picks are big contributors. Need Byrd and Samuel to step up big next season. I would draft safety or oline in the first unless one of the top 2 WRs fall to us

No one knows who's going to be in free agency yet. Tags and cuts will change the landscape. Guys are already getting cut and jumping to the top of FA lists.

This!

These cuts are going to be crucial. I think we can make some legit signings this year.

    • I don't think Rodgers but probably not for the political reasons I bet a lot of posters are motivated by. I just think he is not the QB for the Panthers, at all.
    • Sun Devils just scored another TD on BYU, 14-0
    • It wasn't great but  the 2022 NYG won 9 of 16 games plus a playoff game. He had a 92.5 passer rating. 15 pass TDs 3200 yards, 7 rushing TD, 700 yards 6 fumbles 3 lost.  His first season he had 18 fumbles lost 11. Wow.  Anyhow he had problems in 2023 with injuries and didn't win poo before tearing his ACL. This year, no Barkley, not good, but you know.... these ACLs take a while and it was right and he throws right so pushes off of it.  I agree it doesn't hurt to let that guy compete cheap. You don't hand him the job like with Bryce or NYG with him.  When I look at what we have been saddled with, he doesn't look worse and has the physical advantage. So I don't get the umbrage given our situation. This "No we won't settle for anything less that the best" attitude and then taking Bryce Young was pathetic and I think that attitude brought us to where we are. That's where that poo gets you. Away from Mayfield, away from Darnold, even away from PJ - just to replace them with an inferior PJ.  At the same time I am not really advocating for the guy just looking at it objectively. It could be another guy with the same story. And yes the odds of him getting it are low but the numbers and performance from 2022 are for sure better than we see with Bryce even after a season of major propping him up with better players around him. Take a look don't take a look he fails or he doesn't fail...   to instead sit here and be happier with what we have is bullshit.
