Stewart released "confirmed"

I'd said back in training camp last summer this would be JStew's last year here, but I thought he'd retire instead of being released. I guess one more run at a good paycheck is still in the cards for him.

He's been so very good for us over the last near decade. He's done just about everything he could be asked of and done it well. While I hope he catches on with another team, I hope his release won't cause problems. Best of luck to him and thanks for all those great runs and being such a great part of the Panthers community.

Really surprised Hurney is cutting popular vets... maybe he really did learn from his mistakes...

Pretty sure if Stew doesn’t come back cheaper that someone else will pick him up.

Packers rarely sign FA's, and I doubt Stewart would want to play there. He's from Washington so it does make sense. I bet Stewart plays one more season for the Seahawks.

Love stew the man, but can't justify the pay for a guy who gets outrushed by the qb.  Burney has been making the right moves so far, it'll be more interesting to see how he does signing new players because that was his biggest flaw in the past.

I agree cutting a 30+ year old RB who had some costly fumbles and looked much slower than he used to is an obvious move. I'd be worried if Hurney didn't make the move. First round bruising RB might be incoming.

They need to improve their OL as much as anything.

Agreed on the first part, but hate the idea of another 1st on a RB.

There are going to be vets in FA, and later round picks that could work here.
