White glove my a**. It's about being a professional in a professional environment. Go to any job and churn through people bc you treat them like things instead of people. It's not a way to build a successful team or workplace.

Unless it is...you know...successful.

But it's all about the feels.

And I have yet to see one example of the disrespect you speak of.

I don't think this should turn into a Gettleman versus Hurney thread because we already know our views on the subject. It's no secret who prefers which GM and why. Any success Hurney has in any area as GM always seem to prompt a G vs H debate, but it's the same stuff I've already read on here.

Eh we never won a SB so not so successful. They won't write books about the team that almost did something. And it's not exactly set us up for success either given our cap and lack of talent right now.

On this I can agree.  They were however trending upward.  Now it's back to cronyism and ineptitude 2.0

what the fug do you know about how a professional environment works exactly? have you been out in the real world? bc if you have ever worked for a high output conglomerate you know that you have to leave your fee fees and reservations you have about the professionalism of higher bracketed departments or your superiors at the door.

Pull up a list of guys from the same team with the same gm complaining. Let's use how many were pissed at Gman. So Steve, Dwill, and Josh. The most public. So find me 3 guys on the same team complain about the same GM within a 5 yr period.

Three guys with diva personalities got mad about being let go?  Shocking.

How about this though?

Former Panther appreciates the way his release was handled

Quote

(F)ormer Panthers running back, Kenjon Barner, had a much different take on Gettleman this week. Barner said the ex-Carolina general manager demonstrated decency in 2014 when Gettleman traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional draft pick.

Barner, who will return kicks and punts in Sunday’s Super Bowl LII against the New England Patriots, said he respects the way Gettleman and Panthers coach Ron Rivera handled the situation when then-Eagles coach Chip Kelly called asking about acquiring Barner.

“They said Chip has been calling about you and wants to trade for you. We think it’ll be beneficial for your career. We think it’ll help you get back to playing football the way you know how and the way we feel you can play. What do you think?” Barner recalled Wednesday during the Eagles’ media session.
Never miss a local story.

Barner was blown away by the fact that Gettleman, now the New York Giants GM, and Rivera sought input from Barner, who had played for Kelly at Oregon.

As mentioned, most players don't do this kind of thing.  The ones with diva personalities are more prone to it.  We had a bunch.

But again, if you think every other team in the NFL gives a guy a hug and an attaboy on the way out, well...

But you’re against that for us normal joes, so why are you for it for the players?

Why do you hate that environment for us normals but your ok with it for players and athletes?

What you guys really mean is that it hurt YOUR feelings.  It's not so much how the players took it but how you took it.  You would rather think that your idols that have tremendously large egos could not possibly take getting cut the way they did unless it's someone else's fault.

Smith, Williams and Norman were headcases with egos beyond any normal human being.  There was nothing that would allow an amicable split and if you're honest with yourself you would see that.

I truly hope many of the posters on this board are not in management positions. You'd be fuging terrible at it. Like I said earlier, you can do your job without being an asshole about it. Firing someone sucks. Even someone that needs firing. Even someone you don't necessarily like. Anytime you have to do it makes for a shitty day at work but it can be done with class and in a way that allows the person to retain their dignity.

And what's the value of this?

I'll answer for you - no value.

When did this no class indignity incident occur?

Watch the video of the Beason interview I posted earlier in this thread. He specifically talked about the lack of class with how his situation was handled and gave specific details about his situation vs. how these types of situations are usually handled.

I liked most of Gettleman's football moves, but there's way too much smoke for their not to be some fire to all the rumors that the man handled his business with an unnecessary amount of crass.
