Big difference in cut players attitudes

I actually thought if Knight earlier today when thinking about this thread.

I think it's true to a point,  but the big difference is that college players are glorified kids. Grown ass men who are paid professionals are only going to put up with so much. And,  it's a new day in time too?!

Even as hard and demanding as Belichick is,  players have plenty of good things to say about the man. I've never heard players insinuate that he's an asshole. Now fans might think he's a cheating asshole,  but I haven't heard that from the players (not even Randy Moss,  that JAG receiver that he cut before the Super Bowl that used to play for us,  or Malcolm Butler).

I agree with this.. Pro players actual talk to each other as well.. In the 80' and early 90' Arizona was known as a hell hole.. The Bidwell family was cheap their facilities sucked and players didn't want to go there.. They change and word of mouth got around..

You also right about I've never seen players so vocal about a GM getting fired before.. That was unreal..

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this weird adoration people have for Gettleman. If he'd helped us to a SB victory I might understand it better but hell he couldn't even manage consecutive winning seasons. Yet there are people here who worship the ground he walks. I don't get it. He wasn't that good, we should hope for much better in our next GM.

What big free agent have the Browns and Bengals gotten lately??

I was going to say something similar.  No serious top tier or even middling FA is going to Cleveland or Cincy.  Perhaps the Cali weather and lifestyle would be a big draw for the Chargers,  but I can't say they even have an awful reputation.

I think Cleveland got a guard last year.. But I don't remember them or the Beagals winning some bidding war for a top teir weapon or defensive play maker...

I've always said that most of the success of the Gettleman era here should be attributed to Rivera.  Rivera won despite Gettleman,  not because of him. Gettleman's moves arguably made everyone's job harder, starting with Rivera's.

Now I wouldn't say all that.. Gettelmen could find some nice role players..

I do think Rivera was a better developed coach when Gman got here.. And I do think Gman had a nice foundation of talent laid for him..

But he did fix the cap and could sprinkle in some nice editions to help a talented roster...

Review the NFL's Top 100 free agent lists of the past few years and you'll find that there were, indeed, players who signed with both the Bengals and Browns, including some guys people here wanted.

And the whole notion that Rivera won despite Gettleman is absolutely the dumbest s--t I've seen on here in a long time.

Says the guy who was starting threads about potential replacements for Rivera years ago.

You never really appreciated him, and you still don't.

I'm a critic, but I'm also happy to see he's making some changes.

What I've also mentioned here before though is that Coach and GM are like quarterback and receiver.  They're best evaluated as a tandem. Gettleman and Rivera worked well together.

And as far as a top 100 list,  that's all fine and good,  but just because you're a free agent in the top 100 list doesn't make you top tier.

Ah, so if they actually signed with one of those teams, they must not be good.

Convenient.

George Iloka, Kevin Zeitler, Kenny Britt and Kevin Minter were all considered top free agents.  In addition, the Bengals re-signed a few of their own in Dre Kirkpatrick and Adam Jones.

Now I'm sure you'll say "none of those guys were any good" but the NFL disagreed.

You know how I feel about Gettleman's team building, and his inability to get the job done when we were so close,  so I'll spare everyone the repeat.  Suffice it to say that he doesn't believe in windows, but apparently believes in holes...

As for guys going to Cleveland and Cincy, I didn't say they weren't good,  but they obviously didn't have a driving desire to win a championship,  or even simply be a part of a good organization.  Some people will sell their souls for the almighty dollar regardless. Some people don't mind dumpster fires,  but most do.
