"The NFL is reportedly looking at implementing a number of rule changes, some expected (clarifying the catch rule) and some not so.

One of the surprising proposals offered by the Competition Committee is to change the penalty for defensive pass interference from a spot foul to a 15-yard penalty at most, NFL Network's Judy Battista reported Tuesday. This is more in line with how the game is refereed on the collegiate level."...............................

I don't like it. Get beat deep, just maul the WR. Give them 15 yards and a 1st and move on. NFL players are more savvy than college players. They'd get that pounded into their heads. Other than blown coverages I think it would really put a damper on the vertical passing game. These guys would get coached to just maul the WR on any deep ball that they couldn't make a play on.

As long as the other team gets 15 yards, a first down, and no clock run off then it’s completely fair.

Or, conversely, merely put a hot, steamy breath of air on the back of a WR's neck and be penalized 50 yards.

It all kinda averages out.
