I said before the draft and I stand by my position. Bucky Hodges is OVERRATED and expected things to be handed to him all through college. I'm not saying he hasn't changed his ways but if he still has the work ethic he had back then he has no chance in the NFL where everyone is just as big and fast as him.

Good college player, but very much a tweener at the NFL level. Doesn't block and isn't really physical enough to play TE, too slow to play WR. I think there's some attitude issues as well. If he had the right attitude, he could probably make a roster.

That's what I wanted to know.. Was there some attitude things or off the field stuff.. That got him out of here.. I knew he was going to need some bulking up before he was ready to the full responsibility of the position .. I just thought 6'7 247lb was some nice clay to develop on the practice squad..

Was he a problem child in college?? Any off the field things going on?? He must have had some attitude things to get released from the Vikes and Us in the same year he was drafted..

FUG BUCKY HODGES

both bucky, Jarrod Evans, and iseah ford left school early to be late round/ undrafted guys. Now all three arent on a team

you left school early and our offense hanging fir thst kind if bullshit? We could have been so much better with them on the Hokies offense last season.

Good riddense. Bet on yourselves and lost big.

That was always the impression I got from VT fans. The guys oozed with talent, but pretty much expected to coast on talent alone and pretty much just thought that he was the poo.

Sometimes (okay, pretty much always) I have a hard time putting things like that on the kids. A lot of these guys listen to the wrong people in making that decision. They should be listening to the NFL advisory committee and their coaches with NFL connections, not friends trying to ride their coattails telling them they're the next star, agents trying to get in their pockets, and media talking heads like Mel Kiper and Todd McShay. Seems like every year there's guys who the media "experts" have ranked as 3rd rounders who end up going undrafted.

Stuff like this:

http://www.roanoke.com/hokies/sports/football/espn-s-mel-kiper-jr-bullish-on-hokies-underclassmen-projects/article_044a030c-fc99-11e7-932f-2fbf9f77f0e9.html

This early in the draft process, projections are difficult, however. At this point last year, Kiper said Bucky Hodges could be the second tight end off the board and called receiver Isaiah Ford "a solid second-rounder." They ended up going in the sixth and seventh rounds of last year's draft, respectively.

As fans for the most part we understand that these mock drafts and media "experts" are pretty much just for entertainment purposes only, but you gotta put yourself in the mind of a 20 year old kid trying to make a decision on his future. He wants to play in the NFL. He wants to make millions of dollars. And he wants it NOW. These media talking heads spewing out of their asses can really mislead these kids and contribute to some really poor decisions that has a real negative impact on their future.

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
