Derwin James

I think you guys fail to realize what Ronnie Harrison is. Harrison is a project pick that will struggle from the gate. His athleticism is the reason he's a first rounder. Derwin James, on the other hand,  has the same (if not more) athleticism, and will come in right away and make a difference. Trade #24 and a 3rd to jump the teams looking for a safety and pick him. He's a beast and a future Pro Bowler.

if we package out 1st and Bills 3rd we can move up to the range of the Chargers. He is well worth it at that point. If the DE class was deep id stay put, but James is a game changer.

The thing is he’s a bit underrated right now... I think he’s gonna move into the top 10 after the combine...

This is THE GUY in this draft. He's smart, a leader, athletic, can cover, can tackle (despite that, i'm fsu fan we had a very off year and that was right after the hurricane). Many had him as a top 5 and he could hop back up. If he's sitting there at 20, we need to trade up. He would solve our FOREVER safety issue.

Would LOVE to get him. If he slips to the late teens, I'd be on the phone dangling #24 and one of our 3rds to jump up to get him but I think that's all I'd be willing to sacrifice to do it. No such thing as a sure thing in the draft. I think he has the talent to be our best safety since Minter but then again sadly that's not exactly saying a whole lot.

wow, trading up in the first for a safety.

Guy better be damn good if we do.

Did you see our safeties last year? Hell, have you seen our safeties for the better part of the last decade plus?

We always have a bunch of slow JAGs back there who look okay when the pass rush is getting home but as soon as that DL starts wearing down over the course of the game they're getting absolutely picked apart.

of course there is  a huge need, has been for years.  It's just safety is not a position I like spends a 1st on.

Not saying I wouldn't, but it would have to be a sure thing.  Spending a 1st AND a 3rd sounds like a lot for a safety.  But he's ranked high by nearly every source I've seen.  You spend that much capitol on a safety, he better be Pro Bowl every season.
