A name I haven’t heard mentioned as a cut candidate but what about Captain. He makes a good deal of money and was hardly used last year

Take a look at his contract. He's not going anywhere this year. It would actually cost us over $2M in cap space to release him this year. He has a $3.9M cap hit this year if he's on the roster. He has $6M in dead money on his contract if released.

Only other ones I could see would be Stew or Shep. And both should go. I'm not happy about these moves, CJ and Coleman were great Panthers and great guys and it's sad to see them temporarily lose their jobs. However both I would say were necessary moves--unless Coleman would've taken a paycut to be depth which was unlikely and a poor move for him.

Stew and Shepard seem like obvious moves. I'll be disappointed if those moves don't happen. Nothing against either man, but they're not worth their cap hits.

R. Kalil is the one that really interests me. I can understand arguments both ways, but the way I see it is that he's another one who's simply not worth his cap hit and the offense from a statistical standpoint didn't miss a beat without him. Of course, the staff will be looking at a lot more than just stats in making that decision and will be looking at the overall OL play but from just looking at the stats, we didn't miss Ryan Kalil.
