Skins looking to trade Norman. Or flat out release him.

It wasn't like Josh was a casual bystander in the events that led up to his tag being rescinded.  In fact, I would go so far as to say he was the one primarily responsible.

Ok? Still doesn’t mean DG should’ve removed the tag. The “events” aren’t much of anything abnormal for a guy looking to cash in.  Keep him for a year and move on then.

Agreed, keeping Norman on the tag would have likely been the best case scenario for the Panthers.

However, Norman's best case scenario was signing a big money long term contract, he wasn't getting any younger.

That was never going to happen here in Carolina.  Josh was given ample opportunity to sign the tag and chose not to.

I don't blame him for going for the money, but Norman isn't worth what the Redskins are paying him.

Wrong. The Panthers used the non-exclusive franchise tag. He could have negotiated with anybody until he signed the tender. If he signed an offer sheet with another team, they would send us the 2 firsts,

Norman, likely knew his chances of getting a high priced, long term agreement from DG were slim to none and that his value might never be higher.  Father time was definitely not Josh's friend.

The two first round picks requirement certainly must have hampered any attempts by Norman to convince another team in the league to sign him.

It would have been a very steep price to pay for his services.

Do away with that requirement and Norman suddenly becomes a much more realistic proposition for teams like the Redskins.

Hmm, what to do, what to do?

How could Josh get the Panthers to drop his tag?

Hey cuz, got a favor to ask you.

I don’t disagee about any of that except for  the ample time to sign the tag. That’s just the business side of things. I understand why he didn’t do it so quickly, it’s just business. I’m happy for josh on a personal level that he was able to cash in after being a 5th round pick from a small school who fought his way to the top of the market. It’s admirable. I had no hard feelings and I don’t think anyone should’ve been mad at him. He had one opportunity to really cash in because he didn’t get drafted until he was 25. DG had the leverage. I guarantee he would’ve signed the tag eventually and played the 2016 season with us.
