Hurney and drafting receivers

I can understand having a subscription to PFF. They're probably the best stat aggragator out there. I sure as hell hope we're not paying much attention to their "grades" but I could see PFF saving a lot of time and effort in terms of crunching numbers on the stats.

I seriously hope that no NFL GM would pay any attention what so ever to media draft previews, but would it surprise anyone if Hurney wasn't prepping for the draft on a daily basis using the fanspeak draft simulator?

I'm not a PFF fan.  I know some are.  And yeah, if it's just something that they look at for the heck of it, I can be okay with that, but it shouldn't really carry very much weight.  You have a whole department full of professional scouts.  Listen to them first.

And yeah, Hurney stated in a radio interview that he reads draft previews.  I do too, but I don't have that whole "department full of professional scouts" thing available to me, so...

Because Hurney felt Dwayne Jarrett could replace him.

It would be funny if it wasn't true.

Which to this day was one of the stupidest moves Hurney made. Who knows if Jarrett would’ve turned out to be different or not. But we had the perfect mentor for him in place. Both USC alums with the same style of play. I still remember Keyshawn talking to him the moment we drafted him. He was so excited and said he was going to take him under his wing. Then Hurney cuts him the next day.

A lot of people look at PFFs stats and think they have the whole story is the problem. I see it a LOT on the NFL subreddit.

There's a lot of info you can gain from PFF, but I feel it's realtively entry level poo (for getting into the analytics of football) if you don't pay for the premium. I rarely use them as much since I haven't had the ability to pay for it yet and a lot of their surface level poo doesn't really tell you much.

Edit - oh Christ wait is Hurney using pff to draft

That move was made because the rest of the locker room hated keyshawn.. And smitty was one word between them from jail time...

Can someone tell me all gettlemans home run wr picks ?  Someone?  Anyone ?

Hurney = 1 hit (a single with Lafell) and a lot of swings and misses.

Gettleman = 2 hits (singles with KB and Funchess), and Samuel still at bat.

However, it doesn't really matter how Gettleman did.  He works for another team now.  Hurney has perhaps the worst record of any NFL GM when it comes to drafting or signing free agent wide receivers, and he is the one who will be making the choices this year.  That should worry any rational panthers fan.

Cause DG really knocked it out of the park with KB right? Jury is still out on Fun fun, and Samuel. Let's not pretend DG was great at getting WRs either.

KB and Funch are both already better than any WR Hurney ever acquired as GM and DG had less than half the time here. I’m not saying DG is great at scouting WRs. He’s not. But he’s head and shoulders above Hurney.

In terms of their grading system I'm not either. Some of their grades are just laughable.
