*SPECULATION* Rapoport: Panthers Among Potential Suitors For Trading For 16 Million Dollar Scatback Jarvis Landry

It’s funny that you bring up Hopkins and Smith yet both of them have a career yards per reception over 14. A bit different than Landry’s 10.1. I know you love him but please find me a good comp for Landry. I can’t when I look at actual stats. KB’s been just as productive with us as Landry was in Miami and more efficient per target. You never refuted anything I posted, just your undying love for him.

At a reasonable deal, I’d be happy to have Landry but I don’t think he helps us that much. At this point with the WR depth and injuries we’ve had just about any competent WR helps us. Miami’s in a position of not really being competitive. I’d take the comp pick and cap savings and roll that over like Jax did and make a splash once you have some pieces. Landry’s top two target seasons had no impact as they were bottom 5 on offense (they were better than average in his lower target seasons).

Do you want to go over the different system each plays in again... Do really have to explain the difference from a west coast base system to a Air Coryell system??

I think this article and the quotes within pretty much tell the story. I hated cutting Smitty but in hindsight I understand why it had to happen.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18079841/steve-smith-sr-reveals-bumped-heads-cam-newton-prior-being-released-carolina-panthers

"We bumped heads for the obvious reason," Smith said in a preview of the show provided to media outlets. "He's the first overall pick and he was a star where he was. I was 31 years old. I had three kids. So we were two people in two different phases of their life."

Former Carolina offensive tackle Jordan Gross, who was Smith's teammate with the Panthers and at the University of Utah, said Smith's lack of patience with the first pick of the 2011 draft was a factor in the team's decision to let him go.

"Really, I think the organization felt like for Cam to flourish they needed Steve to step down," Gross told the NFL Network. "It wasn't an easy decision."

So the fact that Parker and Stills averaged 40 to almost 60% more yards per reception in the same time span doesn’t mean anything?

Any good reason why when Landry’s had his most targets (over 160) that the Dolphins were way worse scoring wise? Why KB converted 20-30% more of his catches into first downs when he’s fat and slow?

I like dealing in concrete things not conjecture. The Dolphins value him or are hoping the can trade him since there may be nothing on the WR market soon if Robinson is tagged, but he wasn’t worth $10M per season let alone $16M.

He also caught 50 less balls with 60 less targets meaning.. duh duh duh

They don't throw the long ball a lot.  BUT you want concrete .. You keep the WR your QB trust the most and gets open the best closer to your QB.... So he runs shorter routes gets open quick because the team needs him to.. There is a reason the difference is so big.in targets between the WR in Maimi..

I'll save you the time.

With his numbers declining and with concerns that he wouldn't be able to accept a lesser role moving forward and could become a distraction, the team opted to cut ties.

Here are Smith's own words from the same article...

Quote

"I am no longer a No. 1 wide receiver and I know that,'' he added. "And I've been knowing that, and I don't have a problem with that. I will adjust to whatever team and whatever role that I would have.

Funny how you pull what want out of the argument.. What did Gross say??

And Smitty was right than and Gman was wrong if we go by what Smitty says.
