It's Official. Hurney is the GM

Do you think after a year they will bring in a new GM?

Depending on the sale, it may not even take a year.

GMs have less to do once the season is underway. It's why Hurney could be fired midseason before without there being any issues.

Would be nice to have an assistant GM around that could step in, of course. No indication yet that's going to happen.

Either way, it's hard to imagine Hurney surviving past this season. Granted, stranger things have happened, but the only owner who actually believes he's qualified to be a GM is headed out the door.

This franchise is a joke.  Once this sale goes through i know that the new ownership will bring in somebody competent.  While Hurney does suck as GM, he sadly was the best candidate of the rag tag group of guys they interviewed recently.  It was all a Rooney Rule sham clearly..

I fail to see how any of the other candidates were any worse than hurney. None of them drove a franchise into the ground and into cap hell. All of them had backgrounds in scouting, not Journalism.

It's a joke and I hate this team.

Thank God they made the right call on this one instead of reaching for the shiny new object just because the media wants it.

Hurney is a HoF GM and #8 out of 90 modern GMs in drafting acumen. He is beloved throughout the organization, and it was tragic to see him nearly felled by false accusations.

Honestly, this forum needs a full purge of the dead-enders who are so locked into their Gettleboy fandom that they have begun rooting against the Panthers.

Send them all to a Giants forum; they'll be happier there.

OMFG WHAT SUSPENSE. This franchise is more predictable than the WWE. Has anyone wondered if JR somehow still puts a clause that he has creative control over whoever purchases the team and maybe that's why we haven't seen a new owner yet? Because to me, he should be out, and whoever they appointed as COO should be making these decisions.
