How long does it take you to log off and then log back on as The Natural?

Doesn't have to do that, he  can just open up an incognito window and stay logged in as both.

Something folks don't seem to have considered is that the other candidates may have not wanted the job because they assume the new owner will fire them as soon as they take over.

It's also pretty late in the year for a  new GM to come in, put together a staff, and get ready for the draft. Hurney may have been the best option right now.

I trust my source infinitely more than your "sources". What a coincidence that Mike Shula is now in the fact with the Giants. Hmmmmm....

Well, supposedly Shula was not Shurmur's first choice for OC.  Reports indicate Pat's first choice was not allowed to interview for the job.

Perhaps Shula is only a stopgap OC until Shurmur's first choice becomes available at the end of next season?

Shula working for a former OC, rather than someone like Rivera with a defensive background, might help him to become more successful or at least limit the damage he would otherwise cause.

Reports indicate Shula's responsibilities will be scaled back from those he had here, certainly that is true if he is no longer going to be calling the offensive plays on gameday.

Whatever happens, it should be interesting to see how this situation plays out over the course of the next few years.

Guys all had to travel to Charlotte to interview; Raye from Texas, Mayhew from clear across the country in San Francisco.  Why do that if you're not interested in the job?

I think they'd have taken the job if it were offered.  It just sucks that the Panthers used them the way they did.  There were certainly easier ways to fulfill the Rooney Rule, but we just had to overachieve.

Those are 2-3 hour and 4-5 hour flights, not like they're driving.

Who knows what went on in the interviews, but it does seem like getting fired when the new owner gets there, which happens pretty often, would have been a factor.

Well, impending ownership change didn't stop coaches from signing on.

Raye actually had a longstanding relationship with Ron Rivera, so it would have been reasonable to expect that a committee including Rivera would have given him an in.  Unfortunately, he didn't even get a second interview.

Lake Dawson did, and it's one thing to come to one interview for a job you're not gonna get.  Very few guys would go to the trouble twice.

Likewise, the Panthers themselves kept saying this was a legitimate GM search.  Even casual fans knew it wasn't, but if an NFL team is offering you a job, you'd think you could take them at their word, right?

The whole affair was ultimately embarrassing, but after twenty plus years of Jerry Richardson, you get used to being embarrassed.

We're not...we are going with the new Hurney influenced by  Turner and Rivera...goodtimes ...

I tend to feel like that. For the record, I wanted Hurney fired for years until finally it happened. Years. But under these circumstances, I think he is the right guy in the right place at the right time.

Golden Parachute

It's no different really than any other large business.

That’s why as fans we shouldn't let it ruin our day, it’s just business to these guys.

Yes and in this case, golden parachutes that also get to decide the future of contracts, the draft and free agency

..and that’s the difference, in my business, like most with the GP, paid but no longer active in decision making

Let’s see how well he does at cutting players he drafted

I'm ok with this. New owner will probably bring in own GM next year.

So he make sense for a 1 year fix.

...you should prolly take the same attitude toward Hurney as your girl did last night with the Olympic silver...Hurn can screw up a lot of things real fast...

DA had as many wins in Gettleman's 2nd season than Hurney's entire team had in 2010.

I'll say this:  Gettleman isn't about to have any two win seasons with the Giants, that's for damn sure.

Then go be a Giants fan of you think they’re headed up and we’re headed down. Save yourself the stress.
