It's like when people said you could be a GM because you google google what coaches have worked with each other and say "big uglies"

Wasn't aware applications were being taken.

Marty doesn't have to be smarter than me or any other fan to be successful at his job. The job would be a lot easier if that were the case.

Unfortunately, success in the NFL requires that Marty be smarter then the guys that other teams have in their GM spots. And given the stories we have about him falling for misinformation from other teams, well...

Hurney is a better drafter, a better leader, a better man.

You have forgotten something in your comment. Hurney is a "Master Cap Hell GM" and don't have any clue how to pay players without putting team in hole that takes couple years to get out of. We need a GM that will not set this team back couple years because that is not a luxury we have when a winning season and or road to SB is in front of us. Hopefully Hurney learned from that disastrous fiasco with the Cap Hell he created some years ago.

Oh Hurney is a joke.  This doesn't take into account that Hurney and other bad GM's routinely picked in the top half of the draft.  Where as the Pats get knocked for picking late every year.  Gettleman was much better at talent evaluating than Hurney, you know how i know this?  Because that was his job, Hurney was a f'n Journalist.  Speaking of our great interim GM who also kept two Kickers on the roster (which is laughable, he should have traded Gano) who were practically the same caliber, one who we drafted and was a cost controlled rookie, only too keep the vet who is about to be a free agent and handcuff us for $5 million that misses 25 yarders in playoff games.  Genius!

Gettleman was much better at talent evaluating than Hurney,

Stop reading right there.

Those weren't the only 21 players that were worth drafting, but you made it sound like that there was no talent that made it in the league after round 2. I can take the effort to list more contributors if you would like, but the point was that there were at least 13 teams that were able to find something better than McClain, Fua, Brandon Hogan, Pilares, Lawrence Wilson, Zack Williams, and Byron Bell.

I said not many GM's hit after round 2. I also stated that this was NOT the deepest draft ever.

I don't know how I "made it sound like" anything. My text was clear as day, no abstract message.

"I don't think many GM's hit after round 2 in that draft. 1st round was very loaded, but after that the talent becomes average at best." - me

You can make a list if you want... sh!t you can do that for every draft and find those 20-30 players that were legit. The bottom line is that Hurney (or any GM) chose the right draft to nail his first round pick.

Your comment came off as a defense of a really bad draft that we had (outside of Cam of course). I counted about 5 other teams (Colts, Lions, Rams, Saints, and Giants) that failed to add a player who contributed in round 3 or after, which means that 26 other teams did at least get one.

Jesus, there are gonna be some actual suicides at this place if we win Super Bowl LIII with Hurney in charge. The level of vitriol is so personal, the grudge so unyielding, that people really might hurt themselves (or worse, a loved one) if things don't go their way.

I don't like Hurney at all as our GM, but I couldn't care less who is in charge if we win the Super Bowl. I'd be ecstatic. This is such an ignorant post.
