you found some statistics online a few weeks ago and it made you feel clever, as if you discovered a hidden kernel of knowledge, countermand to the status quo. Taking it and going against the grain makes you feel clever.

But at the end of the day calling Jarvis Landry a bad football player is still a laughably dumb thing to say, and its hard to blame them for feeling pressured to keep an elite player and the face of their franchise from going to new England. Again.

elite player? Why, pray tell, does an elite wr always end up with such awful ypc numbers?

so basically he's the check down guy running a flat on 3rd and 6 and picking up 4 yards. defenses know he won't be running past 10 yards and thats a huge advantage. in fact, i think his average depth per target was just below 4 yards which was dead last among wrs.

Again....that’s not the point. His stock is high (despite your or my opinion of him) and supply is low. He was going to get overpaid and he did.

i'm not denying he was definitely a sought after FA commodity.

i'm just laughing at how overrated he is. dolphins would actually be so much better without landry being a focal point all the time.

giving 16 million dollars to him makes it even more hilarious, even if you respect his ability in the slot (which i definitely don't.)

Even if he's the best slot receiver in the NFL he's not worth 16 million.

all this says to me is the Dolphins wanted to keep him, and will work out a deal.

btw...take the tag.lol

jarvis landry is an overglorified scatback trying to play slot receiver and inflating his stats with excessive targets while giving poor output in the yards per target range alongside being a meaningful impact player on a consistent basis.

If you just flip a couple words around in that statement.

Who cares how many receptions? How about efficiency?

KB with Panthers (since you said we didn't have anyone like Landry)

125.6 targets per year 970 yds 7.2 TDs 7.7 yards per target

Landry

142.5 targets per year 1010 yards 5.5 TDs 7.1 yards per target

So, Landry per year on 17 more targets got 40 more yards (2.3 yards per target) and -1.7 TDs.

Oh, lets do first downs:

2016 KB 50 with a 1st down % of 79.4%

2014 KB 51 with a 1st down % of 69.9%

2016 Landry 52 with a 1st down % of 55.3%

2015 Landry 60 with a 1st down % of 54.5%

2014 Landry 48 with a 1st down % of 57.1%

That web site didn't have 2017, but sure seems like KB gets around the same amount of first downs on 10-15% less targets and his percentage is much better.

I honestly don't see anything in the stats above other than reception/target volume where Landry is any better than KB and no one is paying KB $16M. Landry just isn't very efficient, but it's hard not to compile some stats with 2 of his 4 seasons have 160+ targets.

Hopefully, that's enough for you to dispute your claim that it's been a long time since we've had anyone like Landry since we just traded that guy away for peanuts a few months ago.

I care because KB drop a lot of fuging balls.. Or were you not watching games.  Also Landry got open and separation way more than KB..  Oh and let's pull out the biggest difference.. KB played with a MVP QB known for having a great deep game... Landry played with a dink and dunk QB who had a weak deep ball game..

We haven't had a dependable WR since Smitty plain and simple..

You don't pay a slot wr that much money. Doug Baldwin and Jarvis are probably the only slot wrs that are their teams number 1 option BUT Baldwin runs better routes and can win on the outside. Jarvis production comes from the slot.

Not saying he isn't good but you don't pay guys who only produce from the slot that much money.

Edelman gets a lot of targets with the Pat's and So did Welker..

I've shown video after video of him lining up all over the field.. This whole conversation is about what he is asked to do in a dink and dunk offense with a dink and dunk QB.. Not what he is actually capable of..

well he also went to poo since he left lol. If anything that just proves he needed our system to play well in and that our secondary obviously took a step back without him.

Washington pass defense top 10.. Ours not so much.. stfu..

Is that the only fuging STAT that matter??

fug Ted Ginn here had a high YPC avg.. Who is giving him 10mil a year?? YPC also has a lot to do with the QB you play with and what system you're in..

Lining up all over the field is different than where his production comes from. He can line up anywhere but the facts are that 72% of his production comes from when he's in the slot. Which means when he's lined up outside his production goes down quite a bit.

Take that for what you want, either his qb can't get him the ball deep or he can't win outside but it is what it is.

Im a Landry fan and wanted him instead of ealy but I'm just not paying a guy who mostly produces in the slot. Diggs sure because he wins on the outside and has deep speed but I can't say the same for landry.

no but its a very important stat...

Can you find me another "elite" (not sure you called him elite but someone else did) with such bad ypc and ypt numbers?
