So long = week 8 of 2017? Also, Landry averaged 5.5 TDs per year.

KB in 2.5 years with us averaged 970 yards and 7.2 TDs per year and he had an ACL tear in the middle to recover from. So KB was 30 yards less but almost 2 TDs more per year. We traded him away for a late 3rd. We didn’t pay him $16M.

I won’t say Landry is bad but for the volume/receptions his production is mediocre.

How many rec. ?? Was KB a returner as well.. What was KB catch rate compare to Landry.. How many 1st down catches for KB make.. How does yards after catch compare?? Before putting them in the same category maybe you can answer those questions..

Your problem is it's been so long since we had a WR that avg. 1000 yard 90rec 6td seasons ... That you don't have a clue of what that type player looks like or actual commands on the open market...

You don't pay a slot wr that much money. Doug Baldwin and Jarvis are probably the only slot wrs that are their teams number 1 option BUT Baldwin runs better routes and can win on the outside. Jarvis production comes from the slot.

Not saying he isn't good but you don't pay guys who only produce from the slot that much money.

Who cares how many receptions? How about efficiency?

KB with Panthers (since you said we didn't have anyone like Landry)

125.6 targets per year 970 yds 7.2 TDs 7.7 yards per target

Landry

142.5 targets per year 1010 yards 5.5 TDs 7.1 yards per target

So, Landry per year on 17 more targets got 40 more yards (2.3 yards per target) and -1.7 TDs.

Oh, lets do first downs:

2016 KB 50 with a 1st down % of 79.4%

2014 KB 51 with a 1st down % of 69.9%

2016 Landry 52 with a 1st down % of 55.3%

2015 Landry 60 with a 1st down % of 54.5%

2014 Landry 48 with a 1st down % of 57.1%

That web site didn't have 2017, but sure seems like KB gets around the same amount of first downs on 10-15% less targets and his percentage is much better.

I honestly don't see anything in the stats above other than reception/target volume where Landry is any better than KB and no one is paying KB $16M. Landry just isn't very efficient, but it's hard not to compile some stats with 2 of his 4 seasons have 160+ targets.

Hopefully, that's enough for you to dispute your claim that it's been a long time since we've had anyone like Landry since we just traded that guy away for peanuts a few months ago.

All this shows is KB is closer to being a number 1 than Landry is. Hence why he' aa slot wr. Don't let people hype up and justify a bad tag lol

Every year, players get absurd contracts.

That basic economics though.

Play has production.

Regardless how one feels about that player, when productive players hit the open market, they will get overpaid. So as a team of said player, if you want to retain that player, you must cough up the money.

It's why our IT is getting paid what he is.  It's why Stewart has been getting what he got.

So?

so basically he's the check down guy running a flat on 3rd and 6 and picking up 4 yards. defenses know he won't be running past 10 yards and thats a huge advantage. in fact, i think his average depth per target was just below 4 yards which was dead last among wrs.

I've learned to never listen to what Saca has to say about WRs. Him telling us how great Funch and Sheppard are, but yet calling a WR who has over 4,000 yards in 4 years and has had back to back 1100 yard seasons overrated. LULZ

so guy with a couple bad takes can only make bad takes now? Funchess seems like a solid wr2 going forward and landry is overrated af, seems like he was only wrong about RS.

and btw, since you don't know what overrated means apparently. The player is worse than his stats indicate. So you just posting his 1100 yards on 1100 targets doesn't mean he isn't overrated, it means he is

Some of you are the same ppl who said Norman is just a system player.. He doesn't deserve more than 11 or 12mil.. Was shocked as hell when he got 17mil and said he was over paid..  Than watched our Secondary and system go to poo since he has been gone..lol

well he also went to poo since he left lol. If anything that just proves he needed our system to play well in and that our secondary obviously took a step back without him.
