It is the best choice at this point to run things for a few months until ownership can hire their own guy.

There isn't any guarantee a new ownership group will be in place and in a position to hire by July. 

 

If the Panthers are winning, Hurney will stay on for the season, but who cares if they are winning.

 

Panthers stumble out of the blocks? Hurney is canned by October.

Then worry about it after the draft. Better yet, if no new owner by July then just add 1 year to his 'interim' deal. I know Richardson is still behind things but if I was a new owner and evaluating Tina Becker, I'd be pissed if she saddled me with a long term GM contract. If she has done well, maybe there will be a place for her.

There has been zero evidence that suggests that Hurney will get a contract much longer than Rivera's. It's all been fan speculation.

I recall a couple years ago when I spoke of JR, his decision making, his pie charts, his indifference about actually winning, the future of this franchise and my decision to sell my PSLs....

I was pretty much roasted in this very forum by a lot of fans who believed JR was the cream of the crop as far as owners are concerned. The best in the league, they said. Class act, etc.
