Which does nothing as far as proving them wrong.

What the poll shows is even the most casual fan understands 3 winning seasons out of 10 is horrible record.

Less than one out of three ain't bad?  Talk about low expectations for the home team.

That sort of record justifies firing a GM.

Even JR understood that much at one time.

There is no way any fan in their right mind should support hiring a GM that failed to field a winning team 33% of the time.

If you are unable to recognize that much, I can't help you.

The new owner is going to put their own gm in place.  Hurney IS currently the GM.  Bringing in a new temporary place holder is only going to fug the workings of this team up more than it already is.  Let the new owner make their choice at the end of the coming season and lets not become the Cleveland Browns.

So youre willing to let a cheerleader, Ron Rivera, and a couple of other people who I have no idea what they are doing making GM decisions,   pick a name out of a hat for a new temporary gm?  Just as long as that name isn't Marty Hurney ?  That is short sighted stupidity.  At least JR had the brains to hire a football guy in Ernie Accorsi to find Gettleman for us even if he was foolish enough to get rid of him.

sorry but you’re not going to get alot of articulation out of kkl on this subject. he pretty much divides all GMs into two pools: those who never cut smith over being a locker room cancer (a-ok in his book) and those who actually did (gettleman robbed him of his no.2 most important life goal of witnessing steve smith retire as a panther; his no.1 most important life goal is being able to cook his own dinner some day)

You know what is really "short sighted stupidity"?

Sticking with a proven loser.

How do you know these three other candidates are being "picked out of a hat" or are incapable of doing a better job?

All three have a stronger resume' than Hurney, a man who has less than a 33% success rate as the Panthers GM.

It's not guaranteed that the new owner will fire the GM anymore than it is they'll fire Rivera.

The "cheerleader" and the "other people" are basically following the wishes of Jerry Richardson in choosing Marty Hurney.

And crediting the guy who fired the better GM so he could bring back Hurney with having "brains" is kinda stupid.

They may not have intended to give them a serious shot, but every candidate they brought in was and is highly qualified for the job.  More qualified than Hurney, who's demonstrated he's bad at it.  In fact, based on things learned recently, it might be borderline miraculous that Hurney's prior stint wasn't even worse than it was.

He asked for a poll (to dispute a comment I made about people here wanting Hurney gone) and I gave him one--now he is ignoring overwhelming results.  Some folks just want to argue.

Hurney had to go the first time he was the GM. Terrible decisions on draft picks (outside the first round), terrible on Free Agency and horrific on CAP management.

Gettleman wasn't much better.  His decisions to cut valuable players (Smitty and Norman) without a plan going forward are just as bad as Hurney inept decisions.

I was on the Gettleman bandwagon and though I scratched my head on some of his picks.  I fell right inline with what he was doing.  Looking back his picks didn't help this team very much.  3 of his 5 first rounders didn't do us any justice.   KB, Shaq and Butler were not very good picks for a first rounders.   One is gone and the other two are sporadic players, at best.   First rounders should be full time starters not rotational players.

Rehiring Hurney for a short term was a desperation move, at best.  I still cannot believe that firing Gettleman hadn't been on JR's mind long before he fired him.  He should have pulled the plug well before Beane ever got hired in Buffalo.  We had a potential young GM in our system.   JR should have fired Gettleman and promoted Beane after the 2016 season.  Long before he ever got hired away to Buffalo.

As I said, rehiring Hurney was a desperation move and though he didn't do too bad.  Sticking with him should have never been an option.  The search should have started immediately and a new GM should have been hired the day after we lost in the playoffs.

The 90% to 10% of the poll pretty much agrees with me.  Those that think sticking with Gettleman was any better are blind (as I was) and he was equally bad as Hurney (arguably worse), other than getting us out of CAP hell.

Hurney needs to go.  End of Story.
