Will CMC come back heavier/stronger for 2018 season?

Unfortunately, this looks like one of the weakest 4-3 DE classes in recent memory. The draft looks chock full of 3-4 OLBs but guys who fit a traditional 4-3 scheme? Thin as can be.

I'd be disappointed in a DT in the 1st. We already have a top paid three technique an another 1st round pick three technique as well. That's your money 4-3 DT spot. You can find a space eating NT in later rounds plus we already have a decent stop gap in Love.

I just don't like McGlinchey as an NFL LT and we already have a very good RT in Williams. I'd love to know what the staff has planned for Moton. Depending on how they view him, OT could be a big need or we may just be looking for depth in the later rounds. If we think he may be our future LT we might be pretty well set at OT.

But Arden Key.  If we can tap into his nuclear power cell...

CMC will undoubtably come back stronger after an offseason in the NFL. Stronger does NOT necessarily always mean heavier, especially when talking athletics. People must remember this. Muscle mass means heavier (and stronger) though and may benefit him. 220 of muscle is pushing it, probably better at 210-215 and even that will probably take two solid off seasons since CMC is already in top shape IF that is what the Panthers want to do with him.

Which brings me to my main point. As I said CMC will be stronger, period. Bigger though, like RB bigger is doable but it all depends on what the Panthers want to do with him. If they’re going to pass to him more than handoff in the backfield, which is what I hope they do, 210-215 would be good.

But if they want to somehow transform him into someone getting the ball primarily in the backfield he’ll probably want to be on the heavier side of 215.

It all depends on what the Panthers plan to do with him, which is still hard to tell but I have a feeling Norv knows. Regardless of mass CMC will be stronger, noticeably, you can bet on that.

dude these guys can lose or gain ten pounds in a day.

Depends. Water weight? Fat? Muscle? I think it takes most rookies a couple off seasons to reach a peak in the right kind of weight. There are always the freaks though that need little conditioning...like Beason.

If Key and/or Derwin James drops to pick 24 they should be at the top of the board unless Ridley is there.

I haven't looked into James,  but I know there are questions about Key's motor and being inconsistent.  But when he is on,  he's probably the best of the bunch. Key has some work to do at the Combine (interviews and all) to guarantee his name on day one.

Smart and violent too. Look at whats really happening there. Defender not squared up with him. Get low and under him. Its leverage and timing. You could pull up any Steve highlight tape and there are just plays where defenders don't make contact when and how they want to. He would play games with them, slow down, speed up, slip out of their grasp. Its not that galloping heisman stuff.

Very few players have ever had his combination of speed, quickness, agility, strength and vision. It's not all magical technique or a Huddler could be cpached up to do it.
