Jason La Confora: "hearing that Park Avenue is putting pressure on [Panthers] to go outside the organization for their hires and make this go away."

bringing him back has already done that. i have as much faith in hurney being able to evolve into a good GM as i had in shula becoming a competent OC. 2018 will be fine. it's every year after that i don't have much faith in him being able to have a positive impact.

Agreed.

What is more important as far as us being a Super Bowl team is this off season.   We have to nail every transaction and every draft pick without putting us into CAP Hell again.   My confidence in Hurney is the same as yours. All I can envision is terrible free agents and a good first rounder and crap after that.

I hope Tina has the fortitude to make the right choice in General Manager.

I had a feeling it would go down like this. I really don't expect the team to be sold till after the Draft, Richardson wants one last roster to ravage before he parts with his panthers. The News about hurney was the wild card that we needed but even now it seems like it wont be enough. I just want the sale to come as quickly as possible and for basically everyone in the FO to get the hell out, new blood could be worse, but as of now the organization is wayyy to much of a circus to seriously contend for a title. It can all change so fast though, which is why we have to remain hopeful.

It really does not seem like he wants to sell the team.

That's irrelevant. The team is for sale, will have new owner, and there's no such thing as a permanent GM. The new ownership will do as they wish. It's not the Supreme Court.

He's trying to change the topic because the events and news arent supporting the narrative he wants.

Guilty ones do

No. Over a 16 year period I have authorized thousands in settlement because some gutless, law school eunuch didn't want to fight baseless claim because it was cheaper and the CEO said pay it. Me....if you are right you frigg'n fight if it costs you everything. F a bunch of money grabbers.

If we come out of this with a better GM than Hurney, I won't view that as a setback.

It'll be a step in the right direction that will get even better when Jerry Richardson is out of the picture.

Nannerpuss would be a better GM than Hurney and he’s on autopilot...

In both of those cases, you're talking about a single source.

In the Richardson case, there are multiple cases with consistent stories and previously written legal agreements.

Source of the exact stories and relating agreements? I’d like to actually here from the parties involved instead of ‘sources’. I haven’t seen one legal document yet. I don’t care about names but at least official transcripts from a party involved.

That would make perfect sense.

What's sad is that it would actually be better for the Panthers too, but Jerry Richardson will Only do what's best for the team if someone else forces him to.

Other than that, he'll just continue to live in his own deluded, narcissistic little world where Marty Hurney is the best GM in NFL history and nobody else comprehends his genius.

It's a shame this all could not have broke out when Dave was still GM. Now we are faced with the most certainly we will hire "someone" to be GM.

He's also discrediting all the candidates because they are African American by saying they are only here because of the Rooney Rule. Veiled racism?

Really?

About that...

(The Panthers) made a big deal of bringing in three candidates with very good qualifications.  That's a great idea if you actually intend to give them a fair shot. But bringing three quality minority candidates in only to turn around and hand the job to a less qualified white guy?  Geez. Do you really think people aren't gonna see through that?

Raye was my favorite choice based on his resume'. I'd be fine with Lake Dawson though.  He's definitely qualified (and hey, cool name).

Jerry Richardson's favorite choice is obviously Marty Hurney, but Richardson doesn't choose people based on actual ability to do the job, soooo...

Raye is another story.  Given all the connections he's got here, I'm kinda surprised he didn't get an interview the last time.  Kinda wonder is the Chargers promoted him specifically to prevent that from happening.

And yeah, Raye is clearly the best candidate on the list and a serious upgrade from Marty Hurney.

What I've actually said repeatedly was that the Panthers were probably just using these guys to comply with the Rooney Rule so they could hire Hurney (a belief which actually the majority of folks on here share) but that this was a shame because all of the guys they brought in are actually better qualified than Hurney and would make infinitely better GMs.

That actually would have been pretty easy to pick up from earlier posts in this thread as well.  Unfortunately, that would require reading comprehension.
