If it's true that the NFL wants him to hire from outside though, it's hard to imagine them making it easy to hire Hurney.

Yes they do but they can't force him, just interview candidates, then wait for the NFL to clear him. Give him the job.

If they drag it out and he's stubborn, that's really gonna be a "cut off your nose to spite your face" situation.

This is the time of year when other teams are working to re-sign their own free agents and decide whether to use the franchise tag.  If we have to wait on thise things, it's not good.

It  is starting to look as if the old, senile, accused puppeteer is pulling his last string.   For Marty Hurney?   Marty knows this is his only shot at returning to the league and does not seem to care that he is unwanted by a large percentage of the fan base.   He is already making excuses, telling people that he has learned from his mistakes....What?

What poll did you see that said a large percentage of the Panthers fan base no longer want Hurney as GM ?

I would like to see a Hurney replacement, but there is a thing called due process and the fact 3 out 4 candidates are minorities ( and the one that is not, is JRs... mini-me) were interviewed only makes this look like a PR stunt. If Huney gets it, the organization is racist (regardless of how the team does). If one of the others gets the and the team doesn't win, it looks like affirmative action and the best candidate did not even get interviewed based on their skin color (or gender). Looks like skin color is the only thing matters (at this point) regardless of who is picked or why.

Sure there are some angry people out there, that one women was interviewed for job and she should get it...because she is a woman. Heck, we had one (and several million people) that thought she should be POTUS based on that, alone...

 

Best PERSON for the job...regardless of race or gender...is really THAT difficult?
