Now this is where I disagree..

The whole no tattoo wasn't a red flag to me.. That's just good business sense.. You widen your brand being more wholesome.. Cam probably tripled his marketing value by not having pericing and tattoos every where..

I'm sorry but Jerry was just telling Cam how things are in reality.. You can sell beats headphones, sneakers, and Fubu.. Or you can sell all those things plus Buick, Gatorade, Yougurt and be the face of the NFL..

That might have been true in like the early 90s but not the case at all. Funny you mention Yogurt Cam lost that endorsement to the heavily tattooed Dak Prescott. LeBron James is probably the most marketable athlete right now and he is heavily tattooed. He sell Beats, shoes, (Fubu doesn't exist btw). LeBron is also selling a Kia, drinking Sprite/Gatorade and Insurance....David Beckham also to a lesser extent....These old ways of thinking are a big reason it's time to turn the page of the Jerry Richardson era. As long as Cam has his logo (his smile) he was going to be very marketable.

Basketball is a different story.. There target audience is the urban population.. Football still wants to sell in the rural areas and still want clean cut poster boys.. Dak plays for the Cowboys the fan base alone makes any of their players marketable.. Perfect Example was Kapernick when he was on top.. Cam still had more endorsement deals and didn't nearly have the team success Kap had.. Better example... What was Vick selling when he was at his most marketable?? Sneakers and powerade..Believe what you want but reality is clean cut is still more marketable in the NFL.. There is still a older (white) fan base that the NFL is still trying to market too..

That could be a reality, but a recipe for disaster if you're looking in the future.  The NBA was the same and switched gears.  Allen Iverson was ridiculed, now that dress is accepted. Now a younger crowd watches the sport.  You want to get younger viewers, but the NFL is failing at that.  There needs to be a switch in order to grow

That is complete and utter BS...The target audience for basketball isn't the "urban" aka black/brown" population. Basketball is a global phenomenon because 1.It's really cheap to play it (all you need is a ball and hoop) 2. Less injury risk as far as concussions go. From a players standpoint the $$$ in the NBA is much better also. The top NBA draft prospect right now is from Slovenia, Kobe Bryant can make make an announcement that he is one his way to China right now and have a rockstar type mob waiting for him and Stephon Marbury is getting his own museum ....IN CHINA.

As far as Kapernick funny you say that because the 9ers have about as big a fan base as the Cowboys and has done a commercial or two not related to "headphones or sneakers". As far Vick he had endorsements with AirTran Airways and insurance back in the day....plus he doesn't really have that many tattoos so not even sure why his name would come to mind. I know the truth and the reality is marketing to the older (white) fan base is costing more money than what the NFL is getting back. Other major professional sports has international appeal which will ALWAYS give you more profit. Nobody cares about the NFL in London and the ratings are dropping because this older (white) fanbase knows that it is slowly being watered down.

Will this cover us from a PC standpoint?

Not only would it cover the NFL and Panthers from a PC standpoint but hiring outside of the organization is the right thing to do. It's time for a culture shift, hopefully in the winning direction, for the Panthers. Again I'm a Hurney guy over a Gettleman guy but you don't rehire a GM. Richardson is just stuck in his ways and as a result the franchise is paralyzed right now. Like we are really going to hire a GM a week before the combine???

It’s really sad to see this thread bump with no actual news. The team is sitting around waiting for Hurney and nothing will change. I hope the people in the FO here never get another NFL job again— they’re all fuging tools.

I hope the current advisers to the team leave with new ownership and keep their shitbird cronyism to themselves. It’s disgusting to watch here in a public setting.

There's a reason Peyton Manning lead the league in endorsements for like 10 years straight.

2015 the top of the league was

Manning, Brees, E. Manning, Rodgers, J.J Watt, Wilson, Brady.

Even now, Cam, Rodgers, Brees, Watt, E. Manning, Wilson are at the top of endorsement revenue per season.

Give you another example, a lot of players who protested lost endorsement deals and sponsors.

Sad as it is, the NFL still markets it self to rural America and middle age white men more then any other demographic.
