Marty Hurney will meet with league on Friday

The league only has to wrap this up quickly if you want to hire Hurney.

His being under investigation doesn't stop the Panthers from naming somebody else the GM.

It makes more sense to keep Hurney at this point and let the new owner in charge make any changes they want NEXT year - when they have had time to look objectively at ALL the candidates out there and after they develop a long term plan for this team.  Hiring Jimmy Raye or anyone else at this point in a fit of panic could set us back for years.  Stick with the status quo, make your plans and execute them intelligently at the end of next season.

That's my thought as well.  Despite all of the "huddle history" with Hurney, having a panic hire at this point, and possibly having the team exploded by new owners, is not the best move.

Franky, a GM should have already been hired by now anyway.

I wonder if this meeting has anything to do with the hire.

What if the league speaks with him and believes that the EX is only causing fake news issues and drop the case and he is made permanent GM contrary to what Jason C. reported.

I'll ask the same question I asked before.

Do you believe a former New York City prosecutor is going to wrap up an investigation by only speaking to the accused?

Are we expecting a female lawyer with a history of prosecuting domestic violence cases to just say "Well, if you tell me you didn't do it, that's good enough for me?"

I understand this is not a court of law, but the NFL has gotten roasted for not handling previous incidents of this sort properly. I have a hard time believing they would just take Marty's word for it and move on.

Anything can happen, but that sounds pretty crazy to me.

Understand your point but didn't she drop the charges?

If she withdrew her complaint than she was obviously pissed about something and than recanted.

Kind of a double edge sword.  Unless they somehow convince her to keep her claim how does the league drag this out?

If she has nothing to say not much the league or lawyers can say.

Than again the Hardy incident comes to mind so who the hell knows.

Didn't Ray Rice's wife drop the charges and speak out in his favor?

The league isn't bound by the same rules that apply in a court of law. They don't have to prove something beyond a reasonable doubt to act on it.

Yes, it's possible that they may exonerate hurney. I just have a hard time believing they'd do it without at least some kind of Investigation. They've gotten ripped for that before and I don't think they want that to happen again.

Granted, she may not talk to them. Who can say? But I really don't think the league wants another black eye from women's groups.
