At some point the QB bubble is going to have to burst. Of the final four teams in the playoffs, only one had what would be considered a traditional "franchise QB". One was playing what most consider to be a 1st round bust (Bortles), and two were playing career backups/borderline starters. At some point teams have to start thinking in terms of letting QBs walk unless they're truly elite. Let some other team pay the guy stupid money. Use that cap space to build a helluva D and put talent around the QB you're getting ready to draft to prop him up.

This.

I think this might be what Washington was trying to do with Cousins.

I was thinking about what Cleveland should try doing and if I were them, I would offer a 2nd or 3rd for Nick Foles then use their 2 picks in the top 4 for other positions on the roster.

They could end up with the most talented roster in the league and do exactly what you are proposing... but this is Cleveland we are talking about...

It wouldn't be a bad idea. They could trade the #33 overall pick for Foles and still have #1, #4, #35, #60, and #65 in the first three rounds. Take say Saquon Barkley and Minkah Fitzpatrick at 1 and 4?

Yeah, I'd do that. I'd do that in a heartbeat.

I do--saw  him sling it-- looks like the real deal.

Doesn't hurt to be tutored by Brady either.

I'll bet everything I own and everything I will ever own and everything that my credit can borrow that Garoppolo will never appear in 8 SBs, win 5 SBs, or come anywhere close to matching Tom Brady's stats.

Safest bet in the history of football.

I wouldn't go as far to bet like that. Matt Ryan without Shanahan = Good only because of Julio Jones. Take Jones away and Ryan becomes very average. Kyle Shanahan made Ryan an MVP. I can't say Jimmy Garopollo will be an MVP but he's got a damn good Offensive guy as a head coach.

Well deserved for the best QB the 49ers franchise has ever had.

Seriously. Despite it being Shanahan's system, Jimmy G looking really fine (in more ways than one). He's got the talent and actually seems more comfortable at the position than Matt Ryan.

I would expect the 49ers to at least make the playoffs next year and hit teams hard.

49ers going in the toilet,..

when will teams figure out that if spend EVERYTHING for one player, even quarterback, you are screwed.

Brady as much as everyone hates on him is a much better team player than Brees or Peyton Manning was, signed serious discounts to allow his team room to get free agents.

otherwise you get Saints, we’re better this year since 2009 but not good enough.

See— Seahawks, were awesome until Russell cleaned them out,... now they implode and suck.
