The timing was their own fault.  They chose this approach instead of getting out in front of it.  Should have started the interview process as soon as Dave was fired.  But JR was dead set on getting his boy back so here we are.

Sure. But it's not their fault some crazy lady decided to bring down Marty and do it when she did.

They are going to do that. I'm talking about the timing. A new GM hasn't been preparing as a GM like Hurney has for the past months.

Raye has been working as the Texans Assistant GM.

He would have been doing draft and free agency prep for the Texans. He'd have to adjust to our personnel and our needs but his already being familiar with Rivera, Norv Turner and Don Gregory could certainly help.

The others would also have been doing off-season working their respective positions, but neither of them was an assistant GM like Raye.

I know everyone is going to be thrilled that Hurney is going to be gone, but not having a GM a few weeks before the combine is truly a disaster. We are going to be so f-ed this offseason. This could ultimately lead to a whole new coaching staff if 2018 is a failure. Not to mention another wasted year of Cam's career.

Just nuts...

It feels a lot like it did when the news about Jerry Richardson first came out, and my feelings are pretty much the same now as they were then.

Yes, I will be glad if he's gone. He really shouldn't have been brought back in the first place.

But not like this.

This isn't football. It's real world stuff, the nasty kind. And for whatever you may think of his football skills, Marty has at least always come off as a nice guy.  So in the end, you're stuck with the options that either his image was a facade or a good guy is getting screwed. Both options suck.

New GM? Good, but this is still an ugly moment.

I hope every one of you jerks who are so quick to find Marty Hurney guilty of something he probably never did get the karma you deserve.  If you read the article you can see that there is a preponderance of evidence that this is nothing but a case of a vindictive ex who wants to ruin her ex husbands life because she is jealous of him and his new wife.

Yes this is my issue and why I went sideways last night (other than it was waaaay past my bedtime). Just from a human standpoint it's fuging scary that someone can take everything from you even though the evidence is overwhelming that you didn't do anything wrong. I didn't want to believe it was possible, when in fact it's probable.

What information do you have that points you in the probable direction ?

from my above linked article

Quote

District Judge Ronald Chapman on Friday heard the complaint, first reported by the Charlotte Observer. The judge refused to issue an immediate restraining order against Marty Hurney, saying there was no evidence that acts of domestic violence had occurred.

Quote

"Even though Marty has remarried, Ms. Hurney has continued her baseless assault on Marty's character,'' said Lucchesi, noting the judge's denial of an ex parte protective order was significant because the bar for granting such orders is very low in terms of evidence needed.

re read that last quote

The fact that the Panthers can't afford to have TWO NFL investigations going on at the same time. The Hurney one will take weeks, if not months and will loom over the organization. I truly believe Marty didn't do anything here, but if the NFL finds anything at all then the PR damage it would do to the team would be catastrophic. It just really feels like they're going to have to walk away from him and they have no choice (even though I went to war with Scot over this last night - he's right)

Hurney has legal ways to deal with the ex wife just as she has ways to deal with him

He is not a child

I don’t wish Hurney ill but as someone who will receive an invoice from the Panthers in about 2weeks for the 2018:season, I expect them to handle their business and be quick about it

in essence, I could not sell my PSL seats rights now if I wanted to due to their incompetence

There are qualified candidates out there,  go get one

As for Hurney, go find something else  I do not want your problems to become the team’s problems  we have had enough of that
