I remember when the NBA was in control of the Hornets and Stern voided the Chris Paul trade to the Lakers. These are Franchise turning moments.

BofA/Panthers needs to move on from the old boy network yesterday.

Or you know have due process before trying to destroy a guys career and livelyhood.

If Cam was in the same position everyone would be shaming his Girlfriend. This isn't  about the truth, just fans that want to get rid of someone they dont like.

well, before this thread happened, i used to think marty hurney was probably a decent guy irl that just shouldn’t be running a football team

now he’s very possibly an abusive shithead that shouldn’t be running a football team

To be honest, the way Hurney has always tried to look out for the best interest of the team, I would not be surprised if he takes himself out of consideration for the GM gig.  Especially if he believes it will linger and be a distraction during FA and the draft.

That thought crossed my mind too.

Remember we had the prior story that Marty took the hit to save Rivera.  This would be a similar sort of thing.

Chimpanzees.

A complaint in court that is withdrawn a week later and this is reason to assasinate someone?

Chimpanzees.

all of ya that are throwing poo right now when there has already been due process,... withdrawal by the accuser,.... deserve totally to have this sort of thing happen to you.

Im not high on Marty Hurney being GM, but you people are sick,... should all be ashamed of yourselves.

It’s a shame that we can’t  wait for due process nowadays before crucifying someone, this could cost him big, granted im not the biggest hurney 2.0 gm fan, this is still bs if he loses out because a faluty accusation

I agree and I think what's happened to JR was unjust and if this costs Hurney the GM job it's unjust. But ultimately for me I don't know these people and I do think having both gone is better for the Panthers' on field success.

You know, an extension thought.  What if they were really just going through the motions of the interview process to satisfy the Rooney Rule like so many believe?  If Hurney does drop out (or even if he's on leave for an extended period), does that force the team's hand into hiring Raye or one of the others interviewed?  Or does it push them to start interviewing more serious candidates?

I think we'll learn a lot about how legitimate those interviews were by how they handle this.

Raye, to me, is absolutely a legitimate candidate.  And his history with Rivera, Norv Turner and Don Gregory would at least seem to offer an inside track if he interviewed well.

I'd be fine with Dawson.  Mayhew's probably my least favorite choice of the three but I'd take him.

If they do decide to interview others, Ryan Cowden and Trent Kirchner are obvious choices with Panther connections.  There could be other options.  Heck, we could conceivably even interview Jeff Ireland (I'd rather we didn't).

Meanwhile, free agency is approaching fast.  Most teams are using this time to try and re-sign their own guys that they want to keep.  We have a few of those two, but we're busy with this.  Oh. and by the way, the team is for sale.

What happens next?  Who knows?

Hey Igo, you picked a heck of a day to be offline.

Media backlash shitshow as a result of one small article with just accusations of a few extremely minor incidents essentially forcing him to sell the team... pretty ridiculous that that's all it takes to change someone's life so drastically.
