I didn't have to look hard - it was right in front of me.

You can't be serious with this. You think an innocent Hurney would appreciate "living in peace" and being out of the spotlight because the people who only read headlines would think he's guilty because of perception? And you somehow think this is a resonable suggestion?

poo man....I gotta go to bed this is just ridiculous now

And if he's guilty, you're okay with his wife having to live in the shadow of her abuser being a public figure and making money?

You'd probably say "I didn't say that" but I didn't say what you're accusing me of saying either.  The difference is I'm willing to admit it.  You keep trying to spin it that I'm saying something i didn't rather than just admitting you were wrong.

And yes, I think living out of the spotlight is better than living in one where people call you an abuser, especially if it's not true. Plenty of people who've been in the middle of public scandals have chosen that as the better option.

You can go back and quote me in this thread saying he should be fired if guilty. So yeah, I didn't say that.

It very well could be garbage, yet still affect his ability to get the job.

Fair?  Hell no, but that's the world we live in.

What I found most suspicious about her responses was the discussion about how "none of these charges affect his ability to run a football team."  Like I said before, you could see that as just her not being vindictive and hoping she doesn't cause him irreparable harm.  However, it's just as easy to see this as trying to make sure he keeps his high paying job so she can get more money.

The whole thing is an unholy mess that could go in a lot of different directions.

Absolutely!  This whole situation is just nasty.

Again, pretty clear you didn't read the whole thing.

If people lose respect for me for honoring due process, especially when everything points to this being a nonstory then that's on them.

It may indeed turn out to be a non-story. It may not.

And yes, getting pissed off and flinging accusations at people who acknowledge other possibilities besides what you think should happen does indeed make you look bad.

You're right that it should not affect the hiring process, however it absolutely will guilty or not. The big story in the headlines is the initial accusation. If that falls through it gets a story but not a front page and many don't even see it. It's all about appearance, and especially in today's day and age with the me too, etc. and particularly for the Panthers with the JR news which was also bullshit but he initial story was enough of a bad look for the NFL that action was necessary.

It’s a shame that we can’t  wait for due process nowadays before crucifying someone, this could cost him big, granted im not the biggest hurney 2.0 gm fan, this is still bs if he loses out because a faluty accusation

Domestic stuff just about always is.

And not that there's a good time, but the current political and social climate is arguably the worst possible time to be in a situation like this.  Throw in that your boss just got clocked for inappropriate conduct and yikes!

Some of the stuff I read here is hipocritical by many people.   Many of those,  not all but many,  saying fire Hurney are the same people saying Hardy should have played after he was accused and should still be on this team.   What's the difference?  One was a liked player and one a hated GM.

I don't know the full details other than news and we all know how truthful news agency's are.

I'm curious about this, but my instincts tell me "don't do it".

Correct.

The NFL has taken a lot of PR hits for how they've handled past incidents.  The smart thing for them to do now is to take everything seriously so they don't wind up getting burned again.  It might not be fair, but you can't blame them under the circumstances.

Yep, since they got caught with their pants down on the DV issue, they will always take things like this seriously.  They don't want to have another Ray Rice situation bit them in the ass.

What's worse is before the media would leave domestic things alone unless someone got convicted. Now they just go full blast with accusations. A big THIS IS BAD with a small print ok not as bad but we gotta report it for clicks.
